Quiet at work, so thought this might be fun and take our minds off the footy:
To qualify as "known" you must have been on first name terms with the person (both ways!). You do not need to still be in contact with them (e.g. your baby sitter when you were a kid counts!)
Mine is Louise Stewart - BBC South East Political editor, occasionally seen on the main news, but mostly in the local versions.

Owned a reacehorse with Matt Taylor (ex Pompey, Luton & Bolton) due to mutual friend; horse was rubbish, the worst that I've owned.
Know quite a few of the top jockies and trainers due to where I live. Sir AP McCoy called me a 'big apath' after a late and high challenge in a local kick around a few weeks ago, eventually laughed it off about a week later when I commented that it wasn't intentional as he's not a Chelsea fan.
Had a great night sat chatting to Stuart Pearce at another racing event, chatted QPR & U21's, (we had Blackstock & Mancienne at the time) also a bit on music etc, really nice guy.
Via work arranged finance for a few page 3 models back in the day and other minor celebs, also Frank Mcavennie (nice guy but a complete loon) and a few minor pop celebs. |  | | |

After much head scratching, I've got the grand total of (just about) first name terms with Windsor Davies when his wife was my boss, and went to school with and was friends-ish the bloke who was on the front page of the Telegraph as the youngest colonel in the British army, and subsequently as the highest ranked British soldier ever court-martialed for a war crime. (Found Not Guilty btw.)
Funnily enough I once was professionally obliged to work for a highly wanted Afghan war criminal but professional confidence rules apply even if I could remember his name, which I can't.

I was as surprised as you are regarding Simm. Had a lengthy spell when I spoke to him nearly every day, and whilst he was never rude, I never once sensed any warmth or the kind of interaction most of us take for granted with each other. Would have loved to have brought up Life On Mars (loved that) but that was NEVER on. Perhaps shyness is a factor, or that's just his personality…
As regards Juliette Binoche : I agree, that's pretty impressive - however, I used to know a girl who was an absolute, cast-iron total and complete double of that lovely actress. I'm not talking close resemblance here : I am talking IDENTICAL match.

Met tony Blair before he became PM and he was frightening in a scary way as we all found out. Knew Rufus and Heidar through football. Sat next to Karren Brady for dinner and also spent an hour eating lunch with Ayrton Senna, who was by far the most charming and charismatic person by a mile. |  |

Used to live on this 'rock'n'roll' street in Camden back in the Britpop days. Kenickie were at No 6 (didn't have much to do with them), Chapterhouse at No 18 (good lads) and the Menswear boys at No 28. who were a great craic (used to go up there and play a very early incarnation of FIFA). They eventually got kicked out after one wild party too many ended up in the toilet bowl being broken in two.
Sacha Baron Cohen lived at No 16, next door to my girlfriend at the time and was always trying to chat her up, so I had a fairly uneasy relationship with him. He was presenting on some satellite channel at the time - used to come round to parties we'd have and just sit quietly in the corner (probably observing us all for future idiotic characters).
Oh, and I once had a dance-off with Jonah Lomu, which culminated in me asking him if he was gay (I was very drunk at the time). He wasn't very happy but thankfully relented and even posed for a picture afterwards. |  | | |
