During Lockdown, i've noticed my alcohol intake rise, and perhaps for two days of the week, waking up with my head feeling like a smeg 800 watt dough beater and suffering  Promtheus Plume reflux.Â
Being Autobahn Straight and true, i've been on 45-50 units a week, drinking 5 days a week, up from around 30 units over 3 drinking days a week, pre lockdown. Thus i'm currently over 3 times higher than The Chief Medical Officers guidlines of 14 units per week.
It's still less units than my pointless  existence as a Lloyds of London pin stripe shocktrooper in the 90's and noughties, but still Reckless for a 52 year old bloke with the internal organs of William Burroughs, Although i can't imagine Burroughs began his Dirty booze ulysses odyssey like me, In the Golden Fleece Manor park in 1983 with a pint of Double Diamond.Â
I found myself more or less in the same mould as Adrian Chiles in his Booze doc, 'Drinkers like me'.

but have been working from home throughout (albeit at about 60%) so I've not started until 4pm ish and then only have 3-4 bottles/cans before my sweet tooth kicks in and demands chocolate. The killer have been the all days sesh that have accompanied virtual music festivals put on by organisations who'd normally be running the club events i go to. Then its a 1pm start, also on zoom with 20 odd mates taking all sots of pills & powder, so being alcohol only i hit a wall a lot earlier than them as they can always 'reload'
Midway through LD20 decided to support some local breweries who deliver, with the added benefit of not having to stand for 40 minutes in the queue to get into Tesco.
Disco, funny you should mention Hook Norton as they aren't far from me & did receive £160 large of my sterling for a pretty extensive selection, as did West Berkshire Brewery and there are a couple of others to try once the current stock is down to 'high risk' levels of 36 bottles/cans (next few days).
don't usually drink shite lager/beer anyway but have enjoyed upping my game slightly.

Those bored of supermarket tipples. loads of breweries have been doing deliveries. Bit spenning compared to 6 for a fiver from the offie, but a nice treat.
Sadly I'm a member of a co-op brewery in Belfast, so been doing my bit (and using my member discount) but they're loving 6-8% DIPAs and theyre just murdering me.
A nice bonus was a member of my cricket team runs a pub and bought us a load of cases off his suppliers at cost. Delightful

Disco - Adrian Chiles has influenced my life to a weird extent: I gave up eating meat a year ago after reading a short article he wrote on going veggie, and that documentary massively made me rethink my relationship with booze - especially the "unnecessary" beer or glass of wine sat in front of the telly or 20 minutes before I'm going up to my bed. Although that's all sort of gone out of the window during lockdown.
In an effort to keep small independents going, we have been heroically ploughing through a sh it load of booze over the past three months. We have a weekly delivery from our local wine shop and had been alternating which local breweries we order from, although now my local brewery has reopened, I'm wandering round to them every five days or so to pick-up a slab.
Neither my wife nor I have ever been able to call it a day after 2-3 drinks, but during the lockdown, we have been most evenings. Which is progress. What's not progress is going from drinking 3-4 days a week to drinking 5-6 days a week. No idea where we are in terms of units, but not great. I don't actually like getting proper drunk - just lightly toasted, so I can remember everything the next day. Been out on my bike most mornings and eating healthily, so have actually lost weight, but I guess that's not the point.
We've had a few emergency requests for beer/wine from friends and neighbours as everyone knew that we'd be on top of the booze game. It's been nice to help out where we can. Got bought a load of beers by one of our neighbours, but they're all 6.5-8% and I'm more of a session beer man these days. Gratefully received, but they're now sitting in the emergency booze cupboard where the shi t wine and half-finished spirits used to be.
4-5 hour zoom calls with mates have been an absolute disaster - had 4 hangovers in the past year and 3 of those have been during lockdown.
We have separate recycling boxes, which aren't all that big, and this week, I had to get our neighbour's permission to drop half-a-dozen 500ml big, thick glass bottles and a wine bottle in their box as they wouldn't fit in ours. Not a great look. Anyhow, just off to the Bristol Beer Factory to pick-up another slab of Badlands - very drinkable on a warm Summer's day.

I've been sitting on the mock chesterfield most nights after a few light ales thinking that i'm regaling Jo with racy vignetts like Elton John reciting his anecdotes over a 5 hour dinner in Le Chalet de la Forêt to peoples of high acedima and renaissance cultures, only to be told the next morning i've been going on about Gary Numan playing the minimoog one-16 left handed on 'Music for chameleons' for the tenth time that week.

There's always a reason to have a drink if you look hard enough. Tonight, I just found out that my best mate from school's Dad has died - lovely, lovely Neapolitan fella who back in the 80's used to give us a bottle of Peroni with our tea when I went round their house after school (I used to pour as much as I could down the sink as I couldn't stand it). So, I'll be toasting him tonight. Salute.

Not drank since sinking several guiness in the crown in kilburn while manically checking skysports news for updates in the Preston game. I've noticed my skin improve, my weight drop, saved dough, mental health good and increased levels of fitness activity. Despite this the minute the pubs are open again I will try to catch up all the booze everyone else's seems to have put away during the lockdown. I love people watching in pubs and the camaraderie of drinking with friends. Will never again take a pub for granted no matter how much of a dump it is.

I drink way too much in general, but lockdown has made me far consistent. I pretty much have three beers every day now. Occasionally on a Saturday I might have had 4 and a brandy. Usually I try and go Monday to Wednesday without and gradually pick the pace up as the week goes on, but since the end of march I've only had two days without. Very much looking forward to going to the pub or social club for a few pints
I really love/miss pubs. I would very happily go for a warm bottle of Holsten Pils and a stale pack of crisps in the pub with Britain's flattest roof, right now. Pubs are brilliant.
I have always enjoyed a drink and loved pubs. About 15 years ago I was in Australia, and a mate who is a marine biologist organised for me to go to a research station in the Great Barrier Reef, where I would be stuck on an island with a bunch of Marine-biologists and nothing else. Certainly no shops. They organised my shopping, I said I didn't want any booze as it would be a good chance to have some enforced abstinence. Got there and they had a whole room stacked to the ceiling with beer and wine. I got there on NYE. Everyone else got pis sed-up every evening from about 4pm onwards and I didn't touch a drop during the 16 days I was there. Wasn't even tempted. I felt fresher, lighter, had a load more energy. I was a changed man. Got taken back to Townsville on the mainland, walked a few hundred metres and popped into a Belgian beer place, where I spent the next 7-8 hours on my own reading a book, whilst getting slowly battered. I would be amazed if I've gone longer than 5 days without popping into a pub since then. Weird that I didn't crave it at all on that island.

played "who's next" this morning, top album, and on the last two chapters of daltreys book. there's a group of fellows in one of the pictures I suspect a few on here know, especially one of the fellows if you've been going since late 60's through the 70's. daltry dose'nt hide the fact that he lived at number 16 percy road either, so a lot of the surrounding roads including askew road and all the old clubs and pubs get a mention. worth a read. by the way he was a qpr fan up until all the football hooliganism was rife in the early 70's. then became an arsenal fan because of his son. hope I ain't give too much away.

Yep , when me old man passed, i picked up a load of his old books, the daltry bio was one of them.
He still had a bit of time for Kit Lambert which pleased me. Until i read the book i had no idea Rog was a QPR Fan but turned to the Arsenal.
Good book but i preferred Moon's 'Dear Boy' And the ronnie wood auto bio.

I think you're right about pubs. When things go back to normal I must aspire to at least do most of my drinking there. Its pretty unlikely that I'll be able to do all of it. I tried that before and kept popping up the road for a quick one or two on days that I wouldn't normally go out.
Certainly shows you're predominantly a pub drinker though konk if you went sixteen days without. I had one February without booze once when apparently I was a right miserable bastid, otherwise I don't think I've ever gone 16 days without!

I've got a horrible sinking feeling that a large percentage of pubs may not reopen. As I travel around west London and its environs, I look at the many and various pubs, most of which I've frequented, and ponder on which will be OK. Some were struggling already - not opening lunchtimes or Mondays. Pubs with decent gardens or at least outside drinking areas will benefit at the start. It's up to us to give these boozers and indeed, all businesses as much trade as we can.

Every Monday morning, I vow not to drink during the week, by 2pm I am thinking about what to drink later that evening. I have manged to contain my thirst until between 5 and 6pm except Friday through to Sunday, what’s the point of having a weekend if you treat it the same as a weekday, although weekdays are the same at the moment, I am disciplined. Bottles go to the bottle bank, cans are crushed for the recycling, which means you can get dozens more cans in without anyone noticing.
