I don't know what the abuse was that was thrown her way - I don't use Twitter or Insta or any of those fora you young people use - but I just wanted to send some moral support through the ether. As you pointed out, reasonable people can disagree reasonably, and there is no need for abuse or to upset anyone.

If you cross paths with her just mention it would you? Cheers mate.

F*kc's sake are the internet mob having a go at Flo now?

FWIW I like listening to what she has to say. She's knowledgeable & opinionated.

Really good podcast. Clive, you absolutely nailed it on the sky stuff...the. “if a try falls in the forest and Martin Tyler isn’t there to commentate” line also killed me

Finally, as to flo.... I’ve met her a few times, and she is such a likeable person- really nice, ambitious.., constantly hustling to break into the football journalism game.... it’s obvious why she gets so much stuck, and it’s a credit to her that she keeps going

it’s pretty clear it’s the same anonymous cowards are behind these phantom accounts..... it does make you wonder, how miserable must your life be to do this day in and day out? To wake up every day for years and centre your life around abusing people youve never met and don’t know? It’s bad enough to be a miserable, misanthropic c**t.... it’s even worse to be a bigger coward than you are a d*ck

SO yeah on twitter there's a lot of nameless sock puppet accounts, but you only need to look at facebook to see people are more than happy to fire abuse, be racist etc under their full real name

Some of the stuff Flo says and tweets I don't always agree with but find it incredible that people seem unable to either debate or accept different opinions and instead get really nasty

I don't agree with her half then time. I agree with Finney even less than that. But it's possible to express that without trying to make them feel colossally sht about themselves.

Listened to it earlier and I thought it was excellent. Excellent analysis of the two big stories this week. Well done to all.

Excellent podcast as usual and I was really disappointed to hear about the abuse that Flo and Clive get. It’s absolutely disgusting and in part why I don’t particularly like or use Twitter. Flo’s contribution is always good and she comes across really well - I struggle to think how bigoted someone must be to send her abuse cloaked as being about her opinions and views on football.

It will be a real shame if Clive stops going on the pod because of the stuff he gets too. As a long time member of the forum I find there are a number of avatars I look out for in discussions as I generally respect and value there views as being both level handed and insightful. These include many who contribute significantly to this site such as Clive (obviously), DaveB, BrianMcCathy, Anti and Smegma amongst many others....the thought that serious amounts of online abuse then stems from giving such opinions is incredibly sad. The world has enough problems at the moment, respecting other people’s views on football and the running of football clubs really shouldn’t lead to personal attacks from keyboard warriors.

Keep it up Clive and Flo - your work on the podcasts and especially this site are fabulous and we are extremely lucky to have you and it.

(To agree further with Clive’s points on gestures versus actions I’m now going to get around to signing up as a Parton which has been on my to do list for a month!!!)

Hate to think of Flo getting any abuse, that's awful. What on Earth is the world coming to?

Her comments that time calling QPR a very racist club was about the most flagrantly insulting, inaccurate and fcuking stupid thing i've ever heard mind you and i'm still really angry about it a year later. That kind of utterly false crap is one of the reasons the world is in such a mess.

When did Flo Lloyd Hughes call QPR a "very racist club" Tim?

She certainly didn't on the podcast, as far as I recall. In fact I think she merely asked Les Ferdinand why he thought we didn't attract a broader audience across color, class and gender, and he offered (in agreement) some reasons.

Or are you talking about other comments by Flo?

Flo has been a good addition to Guardian Football Weekly podcast and deserves some stick from Leeds, Grealish & Patrick Bamford fans but good on her for having a crack.
World would be a boring place if all opinions the same & online bullying is just gutless nonsense - unfortunately not if you are on receiving end.

I'm sorry but what? You've said its bad that she gets abuse, then proceeded to libel her and blame her for all the world's ills? Unless you can produce documentary evidence of her saying qpr is a very racist club, there's only one person spewing false crap making the world worse here.
