My grandparents used to own this pub in the 1950's up until about 1970. I'm was too young to remember anything about the pub, but I was wondering if anyone on here has any memories of it that they could share

We always used to pass by this pub in Putney Heath back in the 70’s.My brothers and me always used to go out walking on wimbledon common,Putney Heath or Richmond Park during the summer.Unfortunately we were too young to be allowed in to drink,and by the time we were,we’d stopped walking that far.There were Young’s pubs much nearer in roehampton,which have nearly all closed now.So I don’t remember ever going in there,which isn’t much help to you really.
I heard it had closed down too,but looking at their website,I guess it hasn’t.And I did start my driving lessons from Telegraph Road back in the early 80’s. |  | | |

I was a huge Youngs fan when it was brewed in Wandsworth and often went to the Green Man just down the road from the Telegraph. The Telegraph looked a nice pub but it was Watneys or Whitbread so it was a no-go area.
The Green Man was a pub steeped in history and it was said they used to hang highwaymen just outside. It had a wonderful cobbled floor dating back hundreds of years but they had to cover because of Health & Safety.
The Telegraph looks good from its website and so presumably has some Real Ale now. I'll pop in when I can. |  | | |

Once old John Young died the jig was up. The younger family members had wanted to flog the brewery for flats, get someone else do the brewing and just concentrate on hospitality.
Similarly, Fullers have sold the brewing business to a Japanese company and are concentrating on the hospitality side of the business. So far though, the beer is fine and still being brewed in Chiswick.
No one knows what the future is brewing though, if you'll forgive the pun. | | | |

No memories supa, but the company running that gaff also look after The Old Orchard in Harefield. If there is a view to match that from the beer garden and terrace in London,* then I’m a Dutchman.
