MW did give us a few handsome wins both on the road and at home, that's true of course, but the lies, damn lies and happy clappy side of the statistics need more analysing/context to say the least. We also had 11 away defeats this season - apart from the three relegated clubs, only three other clubs (WBA, Bristol City and the Fakes) lost more. As has been noted, our home form was also wayward at best this season - we finished with one point fewer this season than last and in the bottom half for home points (so hardly progress), and also won more home points in two of the last six seasons, for further context. MW's away win ratio - a more plausible/usual indicator of the basic trend than the pure numbers - was marginally better than Chris Ramsay's (33% over 29%), though admittedly a significant improvement on other managers. However, he's also lost very similar numbers this season (11) to what happened on the road in the four seasons before he took over (12, 14, 13, 10).
Both Warnock and Venables were in a league of their own - under them, we finished with the best/joint best away records in the division, and both improved us massively during their tenures to a point of true excellence (and promotion as champions). We were also pretty impregnable at home, so no real comparison there.
Overall, under Mark's tenure, a handful of players have developed beautifully, we've seen some periods of lovely football and pleasing results, but we've also been dire and drifting for three months, and, overall, we haven't significantly progressed in terms of winning points and achieving consistency. We also had a terrible period during Covid, before Austin, Jojo and the other incomers resuscitated us. As another poster put it, it's a schizo club that's madder than a sack of cats, all of whom we seem to have been black and run over sometime in February 2021. On balance, though, sad as it is, MW (and, I feel/fear, a lot of these players) had and have come to the end of the road. Les may be inlaid with evil, Hoos made of Teflon, and Ramsay a man-myth when it comes to producing finished Champ quality players, but the Board made a defensible decision, even if we're now plunged back into the footballing unknown. It does help sum up Warburtons reign here. I do think the positives out weigh the negatives when you look back at his whole time here. Taking into account the squad he inherited etc.
I just hope the decision to not extend his contract was based on what's best for the club and not personal spats behind the scenes.

I think we could all come up with some different games, but that is because there are many too choose from in both category's!
My personal choice would have the away win at Watford instead of the draw at Norwich (although this is the match that started our rise) & the opening day at Stoke. We all left the ground that day convinced that we would enjoy the season.
I would also have selected one of our best performances in the disaster's. Losing 2-1 at home to Bristol City after we had played superbly. What a sickener that was!

It's obviously harder to win away from home but what the likes of Warnock and Venables did to create Championship-winning teams was win the away games that you need to (Scunthorpe notwithstanding). You beat Barnsley and Peterborough, and by doing so, it means there's less pressure on the slightly more difficult games, and so on. I don't know if it's a mentality thing with our club; we are a cliche in terms of losing away to northern teams on dank midweek evenings. But Peterborough (north of the Watford Gap maybe) three times in a season? That's got to be a mentality issue. | | | |

One of my favourites was Luton 3-2. the first half an hour of that was one of the most breathtaking displays of football I've ever seen from a QPR side - possibly the best 30 mins of football I've ever seen at Rangers. Then Lummers gave them a goal and we calmed down a bit. But for a while, it was perfection.

One of my favourites was Luton 3-2. the first half an hour of that was one of the most breathtaking displays of football I've ever seen from a QPR side - possibly the best 30 mins of football I've ever seen at Rangers.
