Anyone suggest best place to stay for the Charlton away match for me and my son. Somewhere handy to get back to after the match, thanks. Will be flying in and out of Heathrow.

Trains go back to Charing X / Waterloo area so anywhere around there and you’ll be fine after the game.

I’m booked into the premier Inn at Woolwich arsenal, 1 1/2 miles from the ground £47, didn’t fancy travelling back to Lowestoft that late.

Nourry out
Poll: Who’s starting between the sticks v Preston?

Their are Novotel and an Ibis hotels in Greenwich. Great selection of pubs and restaurants to enjoy pre / post match.

Good luck to those that have booked a hotel in Woolwich, it is a shithole. Town centre that is (cannot speak for the hotel)

Stay at the Holiday Inn close to the O2. 472 & 161 bus ride to/from the ground then you get the benefits of the bars and restaurants at the O2 in the evening

Depending on your budget, the Clarendon Hotel overlooking the heath in Blackheath would work well. Five minutes to Charlton by train and plenty of good pubs/places to eat in Blackheath too.

Sadly the Clarendon Hotel is to close in the not too distant future and are to be converted into old people residence properties. I am sure they will cost a bomb

Was about to say the same re Woolwich…was a shithole when I lived nearby in the 80’s and has got steadily worse since.

The Ibis/Premier Inn in Greenwich is clean and functional as well (have stayed in both) , plus only a few stops on the train.

Basically, what Bexley said

I wanted to warn about Woolwich too but decided against it

Nice view of the ferry mind

They've started the gentrification in the last couple of years, though it will take a long, long time I'm told.

Oh they have ponced up the town centre, but the people who frequent it are a different breed. Crack den / pissed up down and outs, Somali gangs, it is quite the place to visit
