Leaving loftus road... 01:47 - Jun 9 with 7006 viewsqpr_1968

what would it mean to you....would it matter?

selfish reasons.....i live local, so yes.
sentimental reasons...yes
moving to a soulless ground in the middle of nowhere....no

yet here's the contradictory bit.....i'd love a 30,000 stadium, with a lovely bit of leg room, and a concourse with decent facilities/toilets/food drink....and safe standing.

what would be the furthest from loftus road you would accept....regardless of where you live.
again for selfish reasons i'd say stay.....

Poll: how many games this season....home/away.

Stay, improve the facilities, try to somehow increase capacity to 20k. Everyone I know that has been to Loftus Road, either a neutral or away fan all comment on the atmosphere, ground is in a great accessible location. I’ve been going since 1966, was in our largest ever crowd there against Leeds from memory ie 35k but even if we had that capacity I think we would be half full most of the time now unless we were consistently in the Premier League.

I’d have thought we could increase capacity by digging down, wonder if it’s been looked into?

If we could sustain a PL existence, could we live with a 15,000 seater stadium, with leg room and maybe some better bars.

If it were ever possible to purchase the school end (wasn't this a recently discussed possibility again) and we could then do something about capacity?

I certainly don't want us to leave

It's all about pros and cons.

Loftus Road is TINY. I'm 6ft 1 and the leg room is NUMBER ONE BULLSHIT.

Also, it's been a MILLION YEARS since Ollie's 'this is our cave' era. Fortress? Fort-LESS mer like.

It's not even called Loftus Road anymore. Matrade or some shit? I don't even know what that is.

So, anyway, the reasons to stay really just boil down to tradition (LOL us with our MASSIVE TRADITION), it being a FAFF to move and, most importantly, if we move we'll find a way to F*CK IT ALL UP.

Just wake me up when it's done.

A move to Hillingdon would be in the realms of acceptability as it contains a lot of QPR heartland and land around the RAF airfield golf course could facilitate a new stadium with good road and rail access. A decent size stadium based on the Boavista stadium would keep the cosy feel of Loftus Rd.

The grass is always greener.

Why?

Don't think we're going anywhere anytime soon

I am 56 years young

I hope to be attending at least for another 15 to 20 years and at a stretch hope to be alive for another 30 years

Can see us still being at Loftus Road.

If we move, it will be in a different location, maybe 10 to 15 miles from where we are. A new stadium has no hope of being local.

Improve what we have here at LR. Architecture and building has come a long way.

Never knowingly right.

Would be happy if we could do something with Loftus Road - Buy the School or extend across South Africa Road.

But if that's not possible then stay as we are - I bloody love the place.

Trouble is it’s a money pit, the 20th promotion evening had to be held in a hotel that not only cost money to hire but with a stadium that had the facility the club could have made money out of holding it in our own stadium.
That’s the main reason we need to have a new stadium.

Yeah the leg room is crap, the space behind Ellerslie is possibly illegally tight and the view from some seats is rubbish but I don’t care. It’s a special place to all of us and a new ground no matter how carefully done out in the relative sticks would just feel a bit naff.

it will not happen in our lifetime, we are skint and if funds are available we need to strengthen the team, development squad etc , new ground in London? very expensive and hard to do. bar a controversial ground share , we are stuck at Lofus road which is ok, we have many tube lines, an overground and westway nearby .
best option is another tier on ellerslie road and use perspex like "glass" to let light thru to homes behind.

Oh God please don't let this be a trigger for another spate of possible modifications to Loftus Road (of which most/none can be done).....

I think if the owners could find the land, they'd build one. The costs do not go against FFP anyway.
Has to happen so the club can sustain itself in the long run. Sooner the better.

Goodbye Loftus Road
Where the knees of the Upper Loft howl
You can’t stick me on the M4
I’d probably stay in the Crown

I believe Monaco's ground is built on top of a car park, so maybe we should stop looking to dig down and just build up...so perhaps we go on top of Westfield shopping centre

Looking at the Sir Bobby Robson stand at Portman Road from the outside on Google Street View (one of the newer stands behind the goals, can't find a pic online) the upper half seems to overhang the street below.

Does anyone think the SAR stand could be rebuilt like that to make it bigger?

I seem to remember one side of Villa Park is like that too.

I think one thing against it at LR would be, the SA rd stand is south facing and therefore it blocks out a lot of light and casts a shadow behind it. If it was any higher, this might extend to some/more of the homes across the road from it

This thread isn't about how we can modify Loftus Road (there are plenty of other recents threads on that matter), this thread is about leaving Loftus Road altogether.

I love Loftus Road it still maintains my connection to London even though moved away over 30 years ago, but for us to move forward a new ground with a sensible capacity is a must. Every home game I go to reminds me that the stadium looks tired, lack of space, poor legroom and facilities that probably don't match up to the modern football era. I remember when it was modernised circa 1980/81 and we thought this was the place for the modern game, but that is over 40 years ago and expectations have changed. If the land can't be found within the W12 and surrounding area then probably a move towards Hillingdon area is an option. Always felt the time has long passed since you could re-develop Loftus Road by expanding the footprint that ship sailed once property prices in London started going through the roof since late 1980s onwards. Not so easy today to scrap £1m plus houses around the ground or even the old White City flats which now cost an arm and a leg.

I love and I mean love Loftus Road

When things have been going badly in my life I can go and spend two hours there, forget about everything and for that time nothing else matters

I can tell you who made the passes for certain goals I can recount obscure moments and I can give blow by blow accounts of random games I’ve watched

It was was, as others have said held up as the modern arena in the early 80’s concerts, Boxing etc

I love it and taking my boy was a proper proud dad moment

I’m 6”3 and leg room is sketchy the kiosks sell awful food and we are unable to
maximize revenues in other ways

I think at some point we will inevitably have to move but I hope the essence can be kept

30k tight to the pitch and not some soulless bowl

If that doesn’t happen has anyone thought about buying the houses behind Ellersille Road or the School or maybe just digging down? 🤔
