Surely neither Terry or Ferdinand can play in this game as a defendant and a key witness in a trial are not allowed to have contact with each other?

Lawyers?

Would depend on what bail conditions the police have given Terry. I suspect he will be on unconditional bail, but if they have stuck on a condition that he doesn't contact any prosecution witnesses then it could be an interesting one (although probably more interesting for lawyers rather than for normal human beings).

If I understand it correctly AF has stated that he was unaware of the things Terry allegedly shouted and it wasn't him that made the complaint. So I fail to see how AF is a witness if he didn't witness anything?

Regarding Terry however; whether he gets convicted or not, his very presence at LR is likely to lead to possible public disorder which for the sake of all parties involved I would like to think that common sense prevails and that he will be nursing a "minor" injury thus ruling out of this game.

Probably why the game isn't being televised, events might be prejudicial to the court case four days later?

Poll: So how was the season for you?

In the real world, yes (AKA a teacher who is accused of some wrongdoing), but this is footballers and they don't have to tread the same road as "ordinary" people.

I'd be a little bit surprised if the CPS didn't have something to say about this.

My thoughts as well. It's not beyond the realms of fantasy that certain elements in the crowd could be signed up as a rent-a-gob and do something silly that Terry's defence can use as prejudicial.

I think the hearing on 1 Feb i just a first appearance (unless I'm wrong and he has already appeared in court), where he will enter his plea.

Doubt the trial will be for a few months yet, and wouldn't be surprised if his defence team manage to make sure for one reason or another that the trial doesnt take place until after the end of the season/European Championships - FA can't suspend him until the criminal case is over.

If Terry isn't allowed with 100 meters of Anton, stick Anton upfront!

it would be interesting if Anton was captain for that game...

Ref - "heads or tails?"
JT = "heads"
AF gets sent off for kicking JT in head...

Why stop now, just when I'm hating it

He's not going 'on trial' as such. Couple of hours in court infront of a Magistrate, £2,500 fine and on his way.

If he pleads guilty, otherwise it'll be a trial in the magistrates court with witnesses being called to give evidence.

i reckon they'll both play. Terry's pride will make him want to play and beat us and we don't have anyone else but Ferdinand to play

well he won't plead guilty, because that will mean the fine, plus a huge fine from the FA and automatic 8 game ban, surely?
Unless the FA decide to treat their beloved england captain in a different way to some uruguayan, obviously.

Bare bones.

4 game ban for Terry by the guidelines that panel set out.

Suarez would've got 4 games but it was doubled because he 'repeatedly' abused Evra.

So lets assume the person who made the original complaint was a QPR season ticket holder, would he as a witness be able to attend the game if JT was allowed to play ?

If not anyone know who he is ?
