I never thought Diakite was cautious or composed enough to play DM. I'd consider him for the AMC role if Fer or Chery aren't available or are needed elsewhere. He can carry the ball really well and in that position if he chases the ball and misses his tackle (and the man) it won't leave us with someone running at our back four. Plus if that strike against Arsenal wasn't a fluke he can hit it ok from the edge of the area. |  | | |

Squad looks good. I would like Bentley in as cover for this season and will be first choice next season and two strikers if Charlie goes. Think Blackwood will be used and score goals, but when Charlie goes I would like Gayle or Murray and an other.
Think that squad may leak goals but we could score loads and be up there in the top 6. |  | | |

The way we have set up doesn't seem to be the conventional 4-2-3-1 formation with the double pivot. The midfield consists of a holding midfielder to sit back, recycle possession and be the base. Faurlin. A box to box player to drive us forward , add legs and chip in with a couple of goals. Luongo. Then one attacking midfielder even further forward in Chery's mould to support the striker, get in the box and get the goals.
I don't see Diakite simply playing as a holding midfielder or an out and out AM in the role of Chery. I would see him more as a Luongo alternative/sub to keep legs and speed in the team and allow him the freedom to go up and down. To do this though he must really improve his passing range. |  | | |

Also you've missed off Mitchell who Ramsey specifically name checked as impressing him.
Mackie can also play striker and Perch can also play centre back - i think both will spend time in those positions looking at the current squad depth/experience. |  | | |
