It’s all crap. 19:24 - Jun 23 with 2833 viewsqprxtc

You know when you were young and you heard old farts saying it was better back then.

Well they were flipping right.

Football is a lost cause and it’s only my love of QPR that I take any interest in the nonsense it is now.

From watching this World Cup and all this VAR crap and the lack of any really good football. All this pass pass pass , pisseuon stats, pass completion bullocks, just get it down the wings and create a bleeding chance. Score, attcack you guys. It’s bloody boring.

VAR is crap. There’s a ref leave him to it.

The Fa Cup has been driven into the ground by minty and ‘bif’ Clubs who are terrified of not getting into the top four to play each other in the cane round of the non champions crap league every year.

We care not allowed to stand if we want to or have Afro just in view of the pitch in cas the players spontanuesly combust.

Stewards dictate when you you celebrate stand or chuck you out.

It’s a f@cking drug. It needs some sort of medication and it’s bullcks.

I am in agreement. I don't really like football anymore, Ijust like going to LR and supporting our team. I've only watched one World Cup game - England, and found myself doing the crossword to relieve the boredom.

Are we speaking of the Pav in Wood Lane ? Used to be my local when I lived round there. I went there recently and don't think much of the way it's been changed around, although my wife thinks it's “ lovely”

I can remember back then - yep it was great

I moan much about the modern game
Can see why us older gents look on in disdain at the 21st century shenanigans

However, without football what are we?

Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal

As a man in his mid '60's, I can't recall this footballing utopia that is being referred to!

More goals are scored now than in the late '60's/'70's. Diving was endemic then & the same applied to handball goals. I will admit that holding was not the problem that it is now, but "tackles" were aimed to cause serious injury & that is rarely the case these days.

Would I prefer to see Manchester City win the top division playing with style, or Arsenal/Leeds win it boring everyone & maiming their opponents?

Kompany or Hunter/Harris/Smith?
De Bruyne or Bremner/Storey/Giles?
Aguerro/Salah or Jordan/Radford?

The footall IS better now than when I was young, but it is not as frenetic (which many liked).

Mind you, it was a damn sight easier to be a supporter in those days than it is now!

I concede that people of my age look at football of yesteryear with rose tinted specs. But, we didn't think of most players as pampered, overpaid yobs the way we do now. I don't recall the level of diving and feigning injury that we get now. Time wasting by the likes of Liverpool consisted of constant passing back to the 'keeper, thank God for the backpass rule. Now, however we have other ways of wasting time which are even worse. Refs must get a grip on this.
Tackles were frightening then but players coped with it and just got on with the game. I just find a lot of football irritating and false now. Pass the Woodbines and a pint 'o bitter.

Players coped with the tackles? They were given Cortisone injections prior to kick off & told to get on with it!

There are a lot of players from that age that were physical wrecks in their early '30's. Having seen all the scars that Kevin Beatie carried around with him & how close to being a cripple he was by 33, I can't agree with that statement. And he was a centre half!

As to the level of diving, I saw the following (plus others now forgotten) dive, feign injury etc. for Queens Park Rangers between 1967 & 1984 - Marsh, Lazarus, R Morgan, I Morgan, Wilkes, Clement, Venables, G Francis, Thomas, Bowles, Masson, Givens, Bridges, Busby, Ferguson, O'Rourke, Saul, Eastoe, Kelly, James, C Allen, Harkouk, Hill, McCreary, , King, Langley, Stainrod, Fereday, Flanagan, Currie, Fenwick, Stewart, Fillery, Gregory.

The chances that every club could produce a similar list are very high!

Did I moan about any decisions these players "bought" for us? No, of course not. I laughed & said they had "won us a decision" . As did all of you that watched during that period!

There are more instances during a match now than there used to be, but as of then, if you played football (at any level), you pocessed the dark arts!
