Either Stockholm to follow AIK or Copenhagen to follow Brondby. In both cases fantastic cities, many lifestyle options, lovely scenery nearby, beautiful women, high quality living and new languages to learn (Swedish is possible, Danish far more difficult).
Non-Football:
Vancouver to see more of my Canadian family, enjoy Canucks hockey, skiing in Whistler, salmon fishing around the Gulf Islands and interior. Great city. Wonderful lifestyle. |

What a nasty piece of work that Barton seems to be.
There are some astute observations when he is playing analyst on a live match, which is fair enough. Good for him. He is no fool. But then there is this underlying needle and confrontational style in that sing song scouse claim which is beyond irritating.

Amazing to think that Rio Ferdinand played 11 games for QPR, most of which we lost and he took over £3.5 million out of the club (£3,500 per minute played, assuming he played all 90 mins of each of the 11 games, which of course he wouldn't have managed).
Further proof of the sheer insanity of today's professional game. How on earth can any sane business make any sense of such figures?

There are good Dutch, German or even Scandinavian managers who would love to manage a side like Queens Park Rangers FC, with its history and the chance to live in London. What a great challenge for them.
But no, we'll stick with the Bristol Rovers / Plymouth Argyle / Blackpool / Millwall approach.
We really need some inspirational decisions to shake the place up from its slumber. I have NO enthusiasm for the coming season at the moment. ZERO.

Precisely the problem. We are stuck with 'plodders', who will plod along and line their pockets until sacked, offer all sorts of reasons for our latest 0-3 defeat at Sheff United, and then be replaced by the next plodder.
We are on a treadmill. We've been on it for years. |

Whether you like to hear this or not, and Palace are a Premier League side at the moment, I think someone like Frank De Boer is what this club needs now. A Dutch or perhaps German manager to create an attractive style of football, fresh culture, bring on younger players and win over the fans with entertaining football that may not always win, but is good to watch.
Instead, what do we get ...? 'I'm looking forward to my 30th year in management and working with this exciting group of players to move the club forward blah blah blah' yawn....
Subtext:
'And if it doesn't work I'll still a) get paid very well every month and b) get paid off handsomely if sacked.
We really have come almost full circle from 2004/05. Really hard to get enthusiastic about this ongoing saga any longer. We are stuck.

Pretty good angst ridden summation. I wonder how many will be bothered to come back next season. I hadn't been to a game for a while having moved out of London over a year ago. I thought this 'Cup Final' was a good opportunity to check in on things.
Found the whole afternoon underwhelming. Home crowd was flat. Rangers were ordinary. Forest slightly worse. Thirteen years ago I was at Hillsborough where a Holloway side gained promotion amid delirious scenes among a 7,000 travelling support. On Saturday a Holloway side survived and most of the crowd went home before the players came out. A great big circle.
My big question is this ... where do Rangers go from here? I assume until we are taken over by a mega-wealthy consortium from abroad, Rangers must simply aim to become a top ten Championship side capable of flirting with promotion via a Play-Off spot.
I'd be happy watching a young, hungry, committed side of players who want to achieve things at the club and who entertain while they're at it.
We need a few better players. We need more leaders. We need more grit and more flair. We need to change the culture of the club, which is the hardest thing to do.
What we probably need most of all is that Consortium to come in and transform the club. |

'Only'? For this club to get even a single point at home in a relegation scrap against a two time European Champion club is an absolutely massive task now.
I think Rangers will lose 1-3 to Forest and then 0-3 at Norwich. Making it EIGHT straight defeats.
Our fate will depend on Blackburn and Brum. Not us.
Pathetic really. Takes me back to Man City in 2011.
When it really, really matters this is a WEAK club. Doesn't matter who's playing or the year, it always recurs. |

There is a whole raft of English managers who can talk the hind legs off a donkey. And make a lucrative career out of it.
There is no doubt Ollie loves Rangers, he's a passionate guy and he's doing his absolute best, I'm sure of that. But at some point the results and performances speak for themselves.
This club has been spinning in circles for years. We want to play with the big boys, but whenever we do we usually get a bloody nose. Then we drop to the Championship, lose our best assets and usually attract players who like living in London but are arguably lucky to be with us OR often couldn't really care less.
There are some clubs in this country where players always run out well aware of the history, the expectation, the responsibility of doing your utmost to win every game and believing you can etc.
We are NOT one of those clubs. We lose far too may games. Far too many...22! It is why I am almost certain we'll lose perhaps 2-0 or 3-0 at Norwich. Why? Because that's what we do. Look at the records over many years.
This is not about Ollie. This is about far bigger issues than that.
It is about ...
1. Having a plan
2. Changing the loser culture
3. Inspiring the players and management we do have at the moment
4. Having the resources and the insight to change some key things at this club
I mean, let's say we survive this season... what is our plan for next season likely to be? Give Ollie £5 million to build a new squad...? C'mon for heaven's sake!
We are drifting. Let's beat Forest and then get out a blank sheet of paper and make some sort of plan, pleeeeez!
We need at least a point off Forest OR else we are in the lap of the Gods. Simple. |

Look into the history of Real Madrid and you might take a broader view. They have been given every conceivable advantage possible to dominate the game in Spain and Europe for decades.
In Spain you either love them or hate them. The classic marmite club.
Personally, I love the Athletic Bilbao story. Probably why I support QPR. |

That's it folks. We have a Home Cup Final with Nottingham Forest, which we may not even need to win, as long as we get at least a point.
Bear in mind we will almost certainly lose at Norwich. So it could be a win or at least draw with Forest, or we may just find we are gone.
How on earth did we get here? Two successive runs of six straight defeats do not help. Simple.
I think fans have every right to feel pretty angry that it has come to this.
Let's just stay up FFS and pick over the wreckage of this season in the summer. Ollie's record now can hardly be any better than Jimmy's?

That's the beauty of league football. There is no hiding place. We have had 44 opportunities to show we are one of the better sides in this league, or at least not one of the three worst. And now, we are potentially looking down the barrel. Two more defeats and it's actually out of our hands, and I am 100% sure we will lose at Norwich.
So really Forest is now a Cup Final. Mind you, if you manage to lose your last eight straight games, then frankly you cannot shed tears. You are rubbish.
And we do lose a lot of games. Can't even squeeze a point when playing poorly like some sides seem able to.
I dunno, thirteen years ago there was Ollie at Hillsborough giving Churchillian speeches and talking of players prepared to die for the shirt and all the usual footie guff, and not much else actually. And up we went from League 1.
Now, thirteen years on, same manager and we are staring at League 1 again. Lots of Churchillian speeches, pleas for players to 'die for the shirt', work etc etc. Not much else.
It almost feels like we have come full circle in thirteen years. |

My God when Rangers go on a bad run they really make a good job of it. What's that now six, seven games without a single point?
So now we have a Cup Final against Forest to possibly stay in the Championship. What a shambles.
Watch the Blues go and turn over Villa next. |

I've looked at all the possible combinations and it does look like Rangers will need 51 points to be fairly sure of safety.
But with just three games remaining to get one more point that looks like a tall order. Which means we're really at the mercy of others.

Well perhaps Birmingham City and Notts Forest will ensure we survive by a couple of points.
