| Headphones Norm 23:05 - Dec 7 with 2102 views | TwoHalves | Not QPR-related but I’m sure we were all shocked and saddened to hear that a Charlton Athletic supporter lost his life at The Valley on Saturday during the game against Portsmouth. I’ve just been digging around and it seems the poor chap was called Norman Barker, aka ‘Headphones Norm’ due to his distinctive appearance, and had evidently been a well-known character at both home and away games for over 40 years. I’ve taken the liberty of copying and pasting part of one of the many tributes from Addicks fans here … ‘For so many of us, Headphones Norm was part of the matchday experience. You’d see him walking down Floyd Road, behind the Covered End, or settled in his usual spot in the Lower Covered End. At away games he was just as present, always recognisable with his distinctive look, the army jacket covered in badges, the famous headphones, the calm and warm expression of a man who’d seen it all with Charlton and still turned up everywhere we went’. RIP Headphones Norm. | | | | |

Lots of chaps in tears after witnessing his passing in the Covered End on Saturday. RIP Norm All clubs have these characters and they are the essence of the clubs they support.

| Headphones Norm on 11:25 - Dec 8 with 1260 views | Bluce_Ree | Am I right in thinking that a fan died there when we played them years ago? I was at the game and a bloke behind me appeared to collapse with what looked like a heart attack maybe. I think the game was a 2-1 defeat. I think Scott Parker scored. | |
| Stefan Moore, Stefan Moore running down the wing. Stefan Moore, Stefan Moore running down the wing. He runs like a cheetah, his crosses couldn't be sweeter. Stefan Moore. Stefan Moore. Stefan Moore. |

It was the last time we played there two seasons ago. Much extended halftime but the game wasn’t abandoned. I wonder what the protocol is?

Possibly if they’ve stabilised the patient and they can be moved, the game can continue I reckon.Maybe the lady at Ipswich was ok to move to a safer place or hospital? This poor guy probably wasn’t able to be moved.RIP Norm.

That may have been the way he would have wanted to go, supporting the club he loved. RIP Headphones Norm.

My understanding was that she passed away in the stand, but that may not be correct. [Post edited 8 Dec 17:13]
