| nardi on 23:00 - Dec 9 with 2499 views | Myke | Ridiculous save, just hope he hasn’t injured himself just as he is running into a bit of form. Second game in a row he is denied a well-deserved clean sheet. Coming out and (sort of) dealing with crosses now. Even playing as a sweeper even if he scarred the bejaysus out of me in the first five minutes! | | | |

| nardi on 23:11 - Dec 9 with 2364 views | BrianMcCarthy | I thought he was far too deep for that corner kick. If that went in, it would have been on him. He also juggled a one-on-one early on, got bailed out by Dunne on the first high ball, and generally looked nervy again. Was so happy for him on Saturday, but he wasn't good tonight. | |

| nardi on 23:18 - Dec 9 with 2265 views | Paddyhoops | He was getting a lot of grief at our end for punching rather than catching . He wasn’t under a terrific amount of pressure either . I don’t want to be to harsh on him as apart from that he was fine. | | | |

| nardi on 00:29 - Dec 10 with 1997 views | Benny_the_Ball | The save from the corner was decent but let's have it right; he has to learn to start catching balls instead of always punching them. It makes the team and fans nervous. Frankly I'm surprised Brum didn't take note and start bombarding him with high crosses. That being said, give me Paul Nardi over Jeremy Beadle any day of the week. | nardi on 00:50 - Dec 10 with 1933 views | rbee | I was half listening to the Leeds v Liverpool commentary on Saturday and the commentators side kick was lamenting the fact that keepers no longer catch the ball but punch. Keepers also no longer guard their near post. We have to accept that the game evolves I guess although some of the changes make little sense. Also, I really am not a Paul Nardi fan but come on guys credit when credit is due. [Post edited 10 Dec 0:51]

| nardi on 00:51 - Dec 10 with 1934 views | CiderwithRsie | I like Nardi. I don't mean that I think he's a great keeper, or that we shouldn't try to upgrade on him. I just think that he buys into the club and does his best, and I think he's been shabbily treated but hasn't let it affect his commitment. So I'm always pleased when he does well. (Appreciate this isn't really the point of those who have criticised him on this thread, who have done so reasonably and proportionately. But I think it needs to be said.) | | | |

And it's a very good point, well made. Despite his shortcomings I do have time for Nardi. I want him to succeed but his adversity to catching routine crosses does rather test one's patience.
| nardi on 01:43 - Dec 10 with 1839 views | LazyFan | Great save, keeper does not get caught out with a freak corner. Most unlike QPR that. Great shot-stopper but erratic with crosses, will probably still be replaced by Dieng at the end of Jan after AFCOM. If he starts catching it, then we have a keeper on our hands again. Our only week link it seems. | |

| nardi on 07:27 - Dec 10 with 1601 views | Malintabuk | I think the game has changed so much now... and especially the dynamics of corners and crosses. I'm 5'11" and was a pretty decent CB... played a decent standard... but in todays game I doubt I would be as effective. The players today are huge... the younger generation is huge in general .. most CB are well over 6' and powerful Arsenal over the last couple of years has taken the corner kicks to new levels, crowding the keeper... and basically every ball into the box is pre emptied by a wrestling match... it must be a nightmare for keepers to come and claim the ball Just watch MOTD to see top keepers that struggle with this. Nardi is 6' 1" and not powerfully built, which it pretty small for a keeper nowadays. I don't think he is ever going to be commanding in dead ball situations... buti think at this level he is a decent keeper If he was bigger and more commanding he wouldn't be with us. | | | |

Agree. 1st half there were at least two very straightforward crosses that he could have caught, but flapped and punched. As a defender he must be a nightmare to play infront of.

| nardi on 07:56 - Dec 10 with 1464 views | stevec | Continental goalkeepers have been punching rather than catching since time began, think we notice it more as a lot less British keepers at higher level clubs now. I like Nardi, it is heart in your mouth at times, but a very confident shot stopper. | | | |
| nardi on 08:27 - Dec 10 with 1352 views | Spaceman_P | Lots of flappy moments from Nardi yesterday. Obviously he isn't confident catching balls so punches them a lot | | | |

I think this is true. Even top non-British keepers have always opted to punch rather than catch. As long as they make decent contact it’s fine, no different than a solid header. It’s the flapping away with fingertips that causes panic.
| nardi on 09:26 - Dec 10 with 1142 views | Bluce_Ree | For a club of our level I think he's great. Some of his saves are like he's in The Matrix. | |
| Stefan Moore, Stefan Moore running down the wing. Stefan Moore, Stefan Moore running down the wing. He runs like a cheetah, his crosses couldn't be sweeter. Stefan Moore. Stefan Moore. Stefan Moore. |

Ah come on have you not noticed how broad Nardi's shoulders are??

No Is he Championship quality? Yes and has made vital saves over the last few months - Rather him than Walsh I am afraid to say

I thought he should have stayed down. I've seen other teams use this as a tactic to kill the other teams momentum. Would his sub have stopped Kieran coming on though?
| nardi on 15:34 - Dec 10 with 719 views | BrianMcCarthy | https://fbref.com/en/comps/10/keepers/Championship-Stats Save percentage: 24th out of 29th in our Division. 23rd out of 24th for keepers who've played ten games or more. Sadly, this correlates with last season's stats as well. And shot-stopping is his strong point. Even allowing for interpretation - for instance, perhaps QPR allow more shots in front of goal or close in that are harder to save than the average team - it's grim reading. | |

I don't like this stat. For example is Raya the best GK in the premier league? Arsenal have the least goals conceded Trouble is Raya might only have two shots to save all game, so I don't know. Sometimes the better keepers are in the worse teams, because they have more to do? Either way, I reckon Nardi might be out again, as that knock looked painful
