Rangers Rewind - The Boys of '67 15:18 - May 3 with 1622 viewsBrianMcCarthy

I've watched this many times but great to see it again.

Great pace to the game. Our old boy Clive Clark was a flyer. Rodney's scored an overhead kick but disallowed.

The crowd are fascinating - innocent but rare chants, mostly exitement and oohs and ahs , young lads with mod suits and puffing on smokes, West Brom on Marsh's case.

Were the crowd segregated for this game?

No, black people and other minorities were allowed to stand wherever they liked.

So then my friend, a question. We finished top, Middlesbrough second that season. Our home game against them led to us giving them a 4-0 drubbing in front of a packed Loftus Rd. But, the match appeared to have been played during the day on Tuesday September the 6th? It wasn't a holiday, why?

Someone has posted on Facebook the players' names being announced receiving their medals, I believe. All with a lego stadium backdrop.

You just beat me to it! Although not at the game (I lived in Suffolk) that would be my guess.

The three day week was in 1972, so I can't see how that would have been the case.

Maybe our lights were so good, it looked like daylight!

The return match was also played in midweek before the end of September.

quick wiki...3 day week, Jan 1st 1974 - March 7th 1974.

I remember a Norwich fixture played on a mid week afternoon. There was another one I think, can't recall right now.

Would love to hear from Adinall and other posters who were at the game of their memories.

I'd imagine that the day in terms of excitement and circumstance and occasion is unparalleled in our history?

How many of the 100,000 were ours?
Did we have 'one end'?
What was the mood like before, and at half-time?
What was the consensus on our best players on the day?
Or anything else...

Yes, I was going to edit that it was '73 & not '72, but I'll take your word about from Jan 1st being the start iof the three day week ...... however, the saturday away game in Decenber at Leeds was an early kick off due to not being allowed to use floodlights & I assume that would have applied throughout the month. I really can't remember though!

I do know that I was at LR on the 1st Jan '74 to watch us demolish manure. I remember it as a 3.00pm kick off but it must have been a 2.00 start.

I'm also certain that none of my employers allowed me to work only three days. Bloody Ind Coope!

The Chelsea FA Cup replay was the other afternoon midweek game.

What a wonderful game (before my time) that's the most footage I've seen of it.

I wonder how many bookings and sending off there would have been in the soft game we have today.

No faking it, rolling around on the floor, no harassing the ref, just get on with it.

Wonderful.

When willl this CV nightmare end

Really enjoyed that. Cracking game. All out attack. Wide open at the back and a bit of magic from the number 10. Certain elements of the Stock side are so similar to the Warburton side.

Never knowingly right.

I'd forgotten how good the Albion attack was!

Brown, Astle & Clark with Hope prompting from midfield.

I'm probably wrong, but memory tells me that this was West Brom's first defeat in the League Cup. I think they entered for the first time the previous season & won it!

As I remember it the clubs were allocated tickets for different ends, but we were not segregated as we would be now. I stood with my father in the QPR end, I was 10, while my older brother could only get tickets in the WBA end, where he stood with his friend.

I have memories of going to and from Wembley and the crowd, but can’t remember a thing about the game, only what I’ve watched since on TV.
