FA Cup Match thread: Danny to invoke the spirit of Dick Graham on 16:56 - Nov 1 by wessex_exile
Sadly, that's it for our FA Cup this season - 3-2 to MK Dons, and boos ringing around the ground, which it appears were for the referee.
On the plus side scumend are out as well. We can concentrate on promotion now and hopefully the fake Don's will either have a fixture pile up to deal with or an NL side puts them out (sadly AFCW can't as they're out as well c/o Gateshead)
Let's hope Maldon & Tiptree can come good against the Vale
Referee bottled four penalty decisions - two pushes, two handballs. Annoyed the crowd by playing dubious advantages then blowing belatedly, then when U’s warranted an advantage, she blew despite no trainer being required. Encouraging display by the U’s, but I wonder could Macey have done better? I’d give Smith a run.

Got caught out with the five in midfield having the spare man wide which led to all three conceded goals. Had two handballs turned down, one with a get out of jail card right on the half time whistle. Never got any control of the second half and missed Payne’s busyness in midfield. Shot wrong footed Macey . Once again loanees Araujo and Mbick look a class above this level. Need to get back on track with three home points next weekend .

I thought we should have had a definite penalty for the push. However, the ref was consistent in allowing a fair amount of physical contact from both sides, which was good to see. Also kept the game moving and wasn't fooled by the antics of players on either side. I've seen worse from referees this season. Agree about Macey. Doesn't use his height to advantage as much as he could, and can't remember the last time he made a really crucial save.

Their first two goals were from schoolboy mistakes - the first was a simple ball behind the defender and then Macey came out when he should have stayed put. The second a terrible mistake by Tucker but he's done so well recently he can be forgiven. Agree about Araujo and Mbick - we haven't missed Flanagan and Tovide still looks a shadow of his former self.

He made one against Swindon although not difficult it was crucial.
