Striker leaving West Ham 15:36 - Jan 6 with 577 viewsdixiefrog

I read on BBC Sport that Callum Wilson is in discussion with West Ham to terminate his contract, I appreciate at 33 he doesn’t fit the Banana Republic player model, but as we’re desperate for a striker, would he be worth a punt?

Poll: Which is the greatest crisp of all time?

Regularly injured.

He'll fit right in.

Poll: Would you take going down to League 1 if it meant new owners coming in?

So was Patrick Bamford, who's done well enough during his short term contract at Sheffield U to possibly be moving to Ipswich

It would be a big risk, even if it was on a pay as you play deal but a short term deal until the end of the season might work?

Had to look up his stats as my recollection of him was a small nippy forward, he's 5. 11"

Fail we may, sail we must

So is Ross Stewart, who did well enough with Sunland and then moved to ....... oh, wait a minute

True, but I don't think Wilson is out with a ruptured achilles

Probably won't happen anyway, he looks like a Wrexham signing or maybe back to Coventry in an "emotional return" to help get his home town team back into the prem

He would be a 100% improvement on the departing Downs. Scored two quality goals for West Ham away at Bournemouth earlier in the season and dropping down a level would suit him as he still has goals in him for sure. Always liked him but as you say not a good fit for the Gimberts running the club. We can but dream…

Wrexham have openly said they are looking for forward "to help them with their push for promotion"
Something we don't hear from our hierarchy

Given that Downs scored 0 goals, you could argue if Wilson scores 1 goal, he would be an improvement by a factor of infinity.

Maths nerd alert.

100% improvement on Downs; yes, but twice nothing is still nothing
