Sam Field pulling the strings for Norwich just doesn’t feel right at all to me. It’s exactly what we need in our midfield. Madsen needs two players in there that can regain possession and provide him with the platform to perform.
What was also concerning against Charlton, was the number of times Madsen was looking to play a forward pass and there was no one showing or making the runs, necessitating him to play backwards. A front 3 of Saito, Kone and Smyth just isn’t cutting it. Kolli and Bennie added much needed physicality when they came on. Saito and Smyth simply get bullied too easily.
Whether or where Edwards plays is largely irrelevant for me, it’s who’s leading the line and whether they can hold the ball up and “get us the pitch”. That is our Achilles heel at the moment. 33 clearances by the Dunne/Cook barrier tells you everything. We clear it, it comes straight back. |  |
