Westwood

Went with Midlands family member to watch Cov win 2-0 at Fratton Park today.

Some observations on Westwood...

The bell started about 15 mins before half time, coming from the middle of the home fans but then at the start of the second half he hobbled towards and then took up position right next to the Cov fans and began a bizarre war dance at them.

He started with a wide arm, tongue out swaying gesture but when the ‚paedo‘ chants rang out he turned and thrust his arse out and began to stroke it with his hand from between his legs, like some grotesque cosplay GILF on PornHub.

The final 15 minutes of the game was just a repeated ‚Portsmouth‘ over and over again while he rang the bell.

His performance was accompanied by 3 hangers-on, a middle aged Bez-like character matched his physical moves, while two children accompanied him on drums.

I was left thinking about his motivations. He’s not supporting the team, he’s not even watching the game. Just re-running the Westwood Show for him own sick entertainment at every game.

How does a human being get himself into a state like that?

What Ralph brings
at 09:35 22 Apr 2022

One thing that's been constant throughout Ralph's time in charge has been the extraordinary inconsistency.

I've come to the conclusion that basically the team/squad we have is really not much better than those we had under Puel, Pellingrino & Hughes and the only difference it that Ralph has a greater ability to lift the team to a higher lever from time to time. You can see how his enthusiasm and positivity alone could do that.

But it can never last because all he is doing is pressing the turbo or nitrous oxide button from time to time - so we get a good performance or a brief run of good performances and then we revert back to our base performance level, which is not that good.

Last night's performance, as were the ones against Watford and Chelsea were as disappointing as anything we watched under those other three managers.

It's the hope that kills.

JWP picked for his team of the week.

This is his analysis of JWP's contribution as one of the best midfielders of the week:

"James Ward-Prowse: On current form he's probably the best striker of a dead ball in the country.

James Ward-Prowse's free-kick against Leeds was as predictable as it was brilliant.

The ball was destined for the back of the net the moment the player placed the ball on the ground.

It flew past Illan Meslier."

Seriously, is that the best he can do? That last sentence particularly impressive.

My God, Steve Cram is an irritating commentator. Loves the sound of his own voice and yet the woman with him is so much more knowledgable.

KWP's goal
at 10:44 24 Jan 2022

I think that was the best Saints goal at St Mary's since Boufal's in October 2017.

Have I missed any?

And has there been a better away goal since then?

Elyounoussi
at 13:19 16 Dec 2021

We've played 17 PL games this season and we've won 3. All 3 came in the four game run starting at home to Leeds on 16th October, just after JWP had been suspended. We were unlucky not to beat Burnley and then had wins at Watford and against Villa.

After that run, going into the Norwich game, we looked solid for the first time in a long time.

Elyounoussi started in all four of those games. He came off at around the 60 minute mark against Norwich before they scored their winner.

I'm pretty sure he hasn't started since. But he's been on the bench so I presume he's been fit.

I know he's not perfect and that he should score more but I think he adds experience and control to our attack.

It may be a coincidence but I think the fact that we were looking more solid going into the Norwich game was in part down to his presence in those previous four games.

If S Armstrong is unavailable I think Elyounoussi should start. We need the steadiness and experience of one of them in the team. Tella and Redmond are too similar.
