Maybe Dembele in the 10. Our delivery from set pieces might improve too.

I’d quite like to see Cirkin get a start. Feel he’s too good a player to be on the bench. Kemper doesn’t deserve to be dropped either though. Can one of them play right back or maybe Cirkin further forward with Smyth on the right and Kolli behind Kone.

I’d keep Ronnie in defence and leave Kamara with Madsen.

Agree we lost midfield but I was just saying was Varane any worse than Kamara.

Stephan’s hands were tied with selection but have to admit that I did want us to go there and give it a go. So, Edwards at the back and 2 in central midfield. Even with Madsen in there, we’re not good enough away from home to compete with the top 3 sides in this league. We have to go with the solid base of JCS, Dunne, then Edwards, Madsen and Kamara (or Varane in for 1 of them).

I guess Stephan could have gone with Dunne and Morrison, then moved Edwards into the middle with Varane and Kamara.

Do people think Varane was any worse than Kamara yesterday? Feel like we’re judging on prior matches more

Where we fail - Wingers as back up defenders

I think against these guys and probably Boro away….maybe Wolves….we can’t go in with our “home” set up. Need to have a midfield 3 of Madsen, Kamara and Edwards (or Varane). And then JCS and Dunne at the back. Unfortunately we didn’t have players available to do that.

His hands were a bit tied though. I imagine he’d like JCs, Dunne, Edwards, Kamara and Madsen as the spine for these tougher away games.

Who'd be a ref?

I’d say coaches too. From my experience of youth football with my son, some clubs just seem to think acceptable to just yell abuse at refs. And a lot of the Refs are just young lads starting out. There’s too many parents and coaches trying to live their failed football careers through their kids.

Agree that we’re quick when we dispossess but the first goal, Poku received the ball and was strong to keep hold of it and then play the pass. It wasn’t a turnover. It was good play by Poku and great run by Smyth.

True but it’s good that Stephan can pick the players he thinks are best rather than the ones the club wants for development. I have seen some improvement in Varane though…..small but definitely better signs. And as Stephan has shown, if you do well, you play.

I think he was signed to start alongside Madsen as Stephan doesn’t fancy Varane. Whether he can give us 35+ games there this season, I guess we’ll find out soon enough!

I think Charles, Edwards, Dunne, Madsen and Kamara are the “guaranteed” starters if everyone is fit.

Burrell and Madsen look absolutely fine!

Yeah not sure why your post deserved a downvote. Some people are very personal against Nourry for some reason. No one has to like him, but got to give him some credit when it’s due.
