 | Forum Thread | This time last year, we beat Derby 4-0! at 15:56 15 Feb 2026
But in classic QPR style did not win for the next 7 and 5 were defeats. We also had 44 points but from 33 not 32 games. [Post edited 15 Feb 15:58]

Overall if you spend 15 million in a weaker league you should expect progress, its been very mixed. I think we are perhaps caught between development and being close to the playoffs. Important to remember that a number of players are from the league below too. If you are a development squad, why are we starting Cook and Hayden every week. I think its fair after losing 3-1 at home to Blackburn, Wrexham collapse, Norwich double and general performances since the turn of the year to ask some questions. Perhaps it is just patience thats needed but again if thats the case, the dev players need more minutes and to be improving. [Post edited 15 Feb 12:44]

I agree with the point that this should be a building season and the positive new players. It’s also fine margins in this league, if we beat Wrexham… Also we know just because we lost to Blackburn it doesn’t mean we can’t win at Hull. The development of Morgan, Kolli, Morrison, Dembele and Saito has been disappointing in my opinion though. Still 14 games to go, let’s see after a full season. [Post edited 15 Feb 12:22]

Fair points, perhaps comparing to other teams isn’t fair and its a vanity metric. However, have we really improved on last season? The league is weaker this year as well. Injuries obviously have had a big impact. In reality next season is when we should measure this, I just think the poor standard of league means there is an opportunity to push on this year and we haven’t really done it. Previous seaons we have finished in similar positions and spent less. It is a younger squad now, only one loan and needs time. |

How would you review them so far? - Mbengue - 6 - Energy, personality but is he a championship player. Exposed as a cb, erratic on the ball. Could become a good RB? - Hayden - 6 - Didn’t play much in early part of season but a decent back up. - Poku - 1 - Nightmare so far with injuries. - Saito - 4/5 - Big disappointment, inconsistent and lightweight. Poor stats for mins played. A few moments of quality. Has not justified the fee paid or solved a problem. - Vale - 6/7 - Looks a good player, injury problems but enough to suggest he is a decent addition on a free. - Kone - 5/6 - Very mixed, stats are not great for mins played but has potential. First season at this level, perhaps we are asking too much of him week in and out. - Burrell - 8 - Massive bonus, pace and 10 goals. Injury is a big shame and a hamstring on a player who is all about pace and certainly not his first touch, means I worry about his return. |

Positive to hear the Eze money comes into play next year. Will we actually sign the right players is the question ha. [Post edited 15 Feb 9:54]

Does he need a run in the team? He was one of the few positives last season but seeing much less football this year. Disappointed he didn’t start yesterday. If we are a development club, why do we start with Cook and Hayden most weeks. |
 | Forum Thread | Next season’s squad at 09:13 15 Feb 2026
We have Cook, Hayden, JCS all out of contract. Morrison supposedly to return from loan and maybe Field. Based on age, injury and form you maybe give one of the above an extension. So where do we need to add quality to genuinely push on next year? Right back - Problem position for years, we have cb’s and cm’s doing a job currently. Adamson needs a loan. Left back - RND is on loan, need to sign at least one player. Attacking mid - We have so many wide and 10’s but are any consistent enough, such a strange season when reviewing this area of the squad. Do we try to move a couple on such as Saito and Dembele or give them another year? Forward - Kolli needs either more game time or a loan. Do we have a back up for Kone and is he even good enough as our main man!? Thoughts? [Post edited 15 Feb 9:15]

This is from October and we are 17th. We really need to stop playing the budget card. We are the 9th highest spenders, 15 million on a squad that finished lower mid table in a more challenging league last season. https://footballleagueworld.co |

This is a good measure of the seasons performance. We were the 9th highest spenders but rank 15th compared to other teams. Look at Millwall and Hull, having fantastic seasons based on low spend. Currently its another disappointing season but arguably this is season worse, we have actually spent lots of money in a low standard division. Player inconsistency and injuries have really had an impact but again this happens every season. We could still finish strong but the rest of Feb with injuried looks very difficult. https://www.transfermarkt.co.u [Post edited 15 Feb 10:48]

 | Forum Thread | Back three, change of shape at 08:17 22 Sep 2024
What does everyone think about a change of shape? I don’t think we have dominated a game yet this season and with Chair returning shortly, plus Ashby pushing for a start, it could be time for a change. We could push Jimmy Dunne to RCB and then Chair and Dembele in the AM roles. Chair and Dembele arguably in their best positions just off of Frey, allowing the wing backs to get forward. Field can drop in to support the back three. Would also allow us to play through midfield more effectively in my opinion. Gk) Nardi Rwb) Ashby Lwb) Paal Rcb) Dunne Cb) Cook Lcb) Clarke-Salter Cdm) Field Cm) Colback or Madsen Ram) Dembele Lam) Chair Cf) Frey |

I’m new to the area, although I’ve been coming up to visit my partners family for 5 years prior to moving. I’m tempted to do Sunderland away in a few weeks? |

Any news on the grapevine? Hasn’t been involved recently and out of contract in the summer. His form hasn’t been great this season but a decent back up. |

I’ve recently moved to Middlesbrough and I’m keen to do a few away games. Are there many on here travelling from gods country? |
