There is a customary artificial stimulant for that. [Post edited 25 Feb 16:01]

For myself I'm not too upset. I don't want to see this team promoted this season, they just aren't ready. Perhaps (I hope) midway through next season I'll feel different. Scrape into the playoffs and narrowly lose the semi-final to a teams seen as much better will be enough me. Final? Don't want to lose another final. |

I have an excellent single malt sitting un-opened the cupboard, waiting for a victory that really shouldn't have happened by the form book. Hopefully this week it will suffer serious damage. |

Top drawer is not getting promoted in this league, it's having a team that wins promotion, and stays up. If they get to the PL, the gaping holes revealed by Coventry will get shredded. |

Nothing wrong with route 1 if the opposition aren't guarding the centre. It's much faster than down the wings and engenders panic in their defence. If they leave it open, do it - always. |

Why am I not sad that Hellberg naffed off the lobby supporting him within the board (don't know how). This Middlesborough team is good, but nowhere near top drawer. |

I had to go and look up who he was managing this week. Nottingham Forest. You would have thought they were made for each other. |

You think? A customer of mine had a Swiss engineer rejected because the officer involved saw Technische Hochschule and thought it was the same as High School. He in fact had a very good degree from ETH Zürich, ranked 11th in the world list of Universities. It got sorted out, but they had to fight. Never assume that the UK civil service will follow the rules, they might, they might not, they might know what the rules are, they quite likely won't. And they are never wrong. |

It's more to do with people in the Home Office playing games. A well qualified candidate who would be asset they will pick through everything to try to find some reason, any reason, to reject. The only surefire counter is political clout, which large companies have and football clubs in wets Wales don't. On the other hand other groups find it very easy. |

Want to play in midfield or were told to play in midfield? I don't know. Players are not chess pieces but they are in the sense that they go where manager tells them, and if they look a complete tit in that position, that is their misfortune. |

That always looked to me like the Chairman of Maritimo fancied some expensive free lunches. When they think a club has money to spend the agents gather like vultures, and can be milked. |

In my career in business I did lot of projects. Going into companies and getting things implemented. A thing that I learned the hard way is that it is always obvious who makes the decisions, but it's very hard to know who decides what that decision will be. It may be, often is, the guy in charge, but often it's someone else - the woman in the office who quietly advances good ideas/people and nixes the bad ones, two guys in purchasing who really understand how the company works and have the best feel for what will fly and what won't, and so on. I very much supported Sheehan's appointment but I was well aware that his successful spells as caretaker might in fact have been due to someone else's influence given the "we're all in this together" ambience at the time. Who? Allen and Naughton spring to mind or someone on the management team now gone. I don't know. I suggest this because of the sharp difference in style, the quality of substitutions that was good and then suddenly wasn't, the lack of adventure in setting the team up. But it's only an idea. Why do you assume he'll get a load of money if he gets sacked? Williams didn't, he was working at Bristol Airport on the floor within a month or so. Just because someone has a 'three year contract' that doesn't mean it can't be terminated. A contractor in IT might have a one year contract somewhere, but they'll be cut with very little compensation if it suits. Given he was chosen by the Americans, he was unemployed and it was a step up for I doubt he'll get more than a month's salary if they cut him. |

We had American owners, Soton had American owners, Rangers ditto. He convinces Americans with limited knowledge of football that he'll make their team into a modern version of Barca 2010. They don't realize that if Barca 2010 played that way today, it wouldn't work, it doesn't work anymore. I doubt that the Rangers top management think much of him at all, but the owners have spoken. Eventually he'll get sacked, and after a few months he'll find another set of mugs who fall for his bullshit. |

Look at Blackburn last night. Building a huge stadium for your short time in the sun looks pretty bad when you go back to the lower leagues. |

"It's the team that wants it the most", "Go out there and enjoy yourselves", and other useless cliches to disguise a complete lack of understanding of what's actually happening on the grass. |
