The Season is Done
at 14:03 19 Feb 2026

Can I just remind you that this is YOUR thread started with :

“Good night.

Over and out.” 😀

Let’s also not confuse Ned’s digging out everybody else who might share concerns about CN or the club with ‘positivity’.
It’s not .
It’s griping about griping . We all do it just about different things .
And we are all positive about different things too .

Trying to not be too negative as some have trouble with too much negativity on here .

So gave the Warnock / premier league mini-era the benefit of the doubt just in case.

But you are right . The 15 years before Warnock weren’t exactly wonderful times .

It proves my point more emphatically that I think as a fanbase , we have been patient long enough .
But all we really get is more people year after year swan through telling us we “need to be patient” whilst certain fans climb on board and tell us we are too negative and just argue any point raised with nonsense stats or links that can be manipulated anyway your argument intends.

Apologies again. Sounds like a whinge.
But I just want to see the club start moving forward again, because don’t be under any illusion , we are a bit of a laughing stock of West London football at the moment.
As a loyal and passionate fan base , I think we deserve more than that .
And that isn’t really to do with today’s finances or Saturdays abomination.
Prolonged periods of improvement across the board. Not just the odd victory or the odd transfer window . Sustained improvements on and off the pitch .
Starting to think we will never see it .
And only speaking for myself, it can be demoralising.

Yes, agree that the last thing we need to add to that list is a pay off for another head coach.

So .. we are stuck with the head coach no matter what .
Stuck with the main aim of trying to sell a player to balance books instead of trying to finish as high as we can.
Stuck with having to sell Madsen and not having any discernible replacement come through the door.
(I wonder if someone might look at Jimmy this summer? Stats aren’t bad so far this term)
Stuck with what’s in the building but for freebies and injury prone players ..minus Cook and Field.
Stuck with absolute mediocrity .
Stuck with some fans accepting that as ok…after 2 or 3 years, perhaps …but after 11 or 12?

Goodie I can’t wait . When are the new season ticket prices announced?

Fully aware that i come across as impatient and someone who wants ‘success’ now ..whatever in the f*ck that is . It can be fine margins at times but even with a fully fit squad would we be tearing this division up? I’m not so sure .
But I , along with thousands of others have been patient for a decade or more.
I fear we will slide down into the bottom
8 or so fairly soon and I’m so sick of that .
That’s the fear and it’s where my frustration comes from .
I want to us to be better than that . I see many clubs/ teams out perform there current expenditure or financial outgoings .
I just want it to be us occasionally.

“14th in spend with an entire Championship attack out injured for most the season”

It’s reality . But a reality some then don’t want to face when the people in charge of fitness and player welfare are rightly asked questions. Injuries happen and happen to everyone but season after season we just accept that we’ll be missing “an entire Championship attack”.

And then lie to us about it!

I don’t know if there is any truth in these figures at all.
But if so , Ilias and his agent can’t be happy .
Saito on 3 to 4 times his wage ??

Forgive a plain, middle aged meat and potatoes football fan who loves his team and accounting isn’t something I understand too much or care to in truth, but in total layman’s terms , after someone mentioning points deductions next season (really?), is the basic long and short of it that we need to sell this summer, and once again start throwing things over board to balance financial issues ?
So thats freebies, injury prone players and big risk inexperience coming in, if anybody at all in the near future then ?

Is that right?

Can’t wait for more of the last 15 years .

As someone else has already said, you are reading the Nourry thread and attaching it to the Blackburn game thread.
There is a bit of crossover but they are for the most part 2 different things .

QPR hand O’Neill perfect start as Blackburn boss – Report
at 19:24 16 Feb 2026

Excellent match report Clive , especially the last 3 paragraphs.
Absolute nail on head.

Why don’t our players (with the exception of Madsen) ever seem to improve ?
That’s our whole ethos. Our whole business model as a club.
Our long term survival relies on players improving .

So those you just mentioned should be out on loan, improving and learning . Not being ‘killed’ as you say by having to play in this injury shambles.
So many questions that need asking and not “why haven’t we got a store in Westfield?!!!”
But the slightly older players like Dembele, Saito, Varane, just as examples… why don’t we improve players like this ?

It’s maybe a bit reactive , but it’s a big worry for me .

Next season’s squad

I agree with pretty much everything said on this thread .

But the whole business model of this football club is to improve the players that we have .
This can happen of course, Madsen being the case in point.
But maybe because he is slightly older but he was able to adapt and improve by quite a bit .
My worry is that the rest are too far off stepping into some of the positions mentioned .
At some point these players have to go out on loan a couple of times and then see where they are .
We can’t keep spending money or signing freebies with horrendous injury records.
We have to break the cycle .

Adamson, Morgan, Bennie, Kolli, Esquerdinha should have already had a loan or be on loan so they can step up, improve, help us move forward and then move them on for a profit.
We haven’t done that so what are we doing to make them better players at Heston everyday ?
I’m sure we are trying .
But you either have to improve your due diligence and get a better quality youngsters through the door or raise the coaching levels in some way so these youngsters don’t look so far off starting regularly. We need them to be better.
Morgan has done it but really gone backwards a little. Kolli looks ok in spurts but struggled a lot of the time .

I realise that I’m crotchety after yesterday and I’ve tried to stay away from knee jerk bleating on here as I thought it was embarrassing yesterday.

But at some point the players in the building have to improve and as a group , we look like passing, controlling and retaining the football is the hardest thing in the world .

That just shouldn’t n be

Well, seeing him on social media being pushed forward by the rest of the Norwich squad to do the fist pump nonsense , really makes it feel like we’ve yet again dropped a b*llock.
They love him there .

So what’s happened here ?

Yes a song that dozens and dozens of people knew straight away and was continually sung over and over …but hasn’t been sung since ?

How ‘strange’

I said it a couple of weeks ago and I’ll say it again , shouting abuse and anger at a 19 year old kid is not a good look no matter how bad he is playing .
I get the frustration and no one is saying he had a good game. Of course he didn’t but I’m sorry I ain’t shouting at a youngster learning his trade . He shouldn’t be thrown in like that but that’s not his fault . The fact that the questions of why, recruitment, injuries , squad depth can’t ever be asked properly to the people in charge shouldn’t mean that its all taken out on a 19 year old trying his best .
I do agree that maybe these youngsters are maybe too mole coddled, but we all know he should be out on loan but we go season after season saying the same thing about different youngsters and we fail them really.

Regarding injuries , Madsen one could be devastating of course . That’s us well and truly done if that is anything more than a kick which hopefully will heal quickly .
The worry is to do with our bloody pitch .
2 players went down clutching their knee with no one else around them . One of them was a the Blackburn lad that was carried off . The other was Richard Kone.
Lucky enough to sit where I could see screens yesterday and see multiple replays of Kone going down .
Don’t be surprised if we don’t see him next match . He went down awkwardly clutching his knee with no one around him and it looked bad . He obviously managed to carry on but that will stiffen up and be a problem this morning and for the near future I would think . Let’s just hope is more Esquerdinha than Dembele .

That pitch is becoming one of our main undoings this season and whilst CN tried to gloss over it by telling us all what a great job the ground staff are doing , there are questions that need answering .
Why were a lot of the long standing ground staff laid off last summer ? Why the new treatments this season that have killed the grass dead and why are you still persisting with them even though it’s visible to all that they are not working ?
Never mind Sunlight
No one has had any sun . It’s been p*sing down for months !!!!

None of this will be admitted because there is quite a queue now of players suffering bad injuries this season (remember Massimo) who would probably like legal recompense if they owned up and admitted the failings .

It’s a narcissistic shambles unfortunately

Edit- to top it off there is the women’s National league cup final on that pitch next month .
What a great look !

Yes I agree .
That sort of post is just pathetic.
I didn’t see that but that should be shut down immediately.
But the flip side of that is those who choose to try and bat away on his behalf, every basic question of CN .

Certain person on here keeps suggesting that fans of Sam Field are like a cult.
Well, defending CN sometimes is a good thing . But defending him on everything is bordering on something similar .

Wouldn’t be so sure about being ‘done’ .

Tough run of games . No win in the next 4 or 5 which is very doable and we will be in amongst the ‘shit’ again .
It’s unlikely of course…..but just starting to have concerns of our downward trajectory (Cov aside) .

Yes, I considered that and ultimately you are correct .
No doubt , there would be some cringy moments.

But those questions are no worse than “Do you like Norwegian players?”
“Can I get a job at the club in marketing?”. Come on.
That’s handpicked !!!!!!!!!!
And yet the same ‘faces’ come on here to argue the toss that we really don’t have a right to question this nonsense.
I’d actually prefer questions on the pathetic water pressure in the loft end, frankly.
Because this for me is one of the big issues. Again , speaking only for me, I’d like him to answer questions without prep and with some degree of spontaneity. It then becomes a real discussion with merit.

Listen I don’t expect anyone to agree with me , especially you Ned on the subject of CN, but it’s more than just nitpicking or some sort vendetta.
The injury's question is a little unfair, because he has a literal army of people more qualified than himself who should be put forward to give some insight into some on the injury concerns .

But there is no transparency in pre prepared questions , especially some of the ridiculous ones hand picked tonight . And that’s where I think he can do so much better .

As I say, only my thoughts.
