Safe standing
at 14:05 12 Jun 2024

When it first came in and it was a bit sparser you could - we even had pals from R block come and join us on a quiet Tuesday night. But now there's not huge amounts of space to, so usually stick to allocated seats

My biggest issue is how much it kills the vibe. You suddenly just sat in the middle of a queue all the time and queues suck

That picture doesn't do it justice. It's actually a very cool space with an outside space and fro my money it is also the UK's best brewery currently. Steady Rolling Man and Magazine Cover are elite beers

Newcastle away in the prem a few years ago. We were on the back row, which at SJP means you would have a better view from the International Space Station. Anyway, some absolute mad lad decides his seat is definitely, 100% in the middle of me and my mates, so squeezes himself in uncomfortably. Super weird guy as he was wearing shorts and flip flops in Newcastle in January.

Proceeds to spend the whole first half taking selfies of himself saying "wassssssssup" into the camera. At half time he suddenly barges through us, shouting "IM GONNA SHIT MESELF". And he run waddles off down the stairs, leaving one of the most foul, wretched odours I've ever encountered behind him. Like a sulphuric belch from the fires of Hades.

He didn't return for the second half

It's an absolute plague, and bar staff need to do more to stop it happening. Some behaviorial economic nudges needed.

My working theory on it too - the posher the local area, the higher the likelihood of a queue breaking out

They've tried to make the breweries at Blackhorse Road into a "beer mile", but one of them was Truman till it went under, became Big Penny Social and now literally has a permanent bouncy castle in it. Luckily the others are a bit more adult, but a lot of the pubs in Walthamstow cater so exclusively to parents as to be unusable

It's a wide range for me

Football - have a season ticket at Rangers, but outside of that, cup finals and international tournaments I don't really watch that much of it. Always been crap at it so have never really played

Rugby - played from the age of 15 until about 5 years ago where I just couldn't hack it anymore. Watch all Ireland internationals and try to get tickets to one each year, usually away as its easier. Catch the European Cup when I can too

Cricket - played it in a park league in East London since 2010. Try to go to a test each summer - Trent Bridge for the Windies this year!

Darts - captain a work team in a Monday night league. We're dreadful but it's good craic

Horse racing - sport of kings, I love it, especially the jumps. Try to get to at least one day of Cheltenham and Leopardstown at Christmas.

The closest pub to me is The Castle E17. It's a lovely pub that does a great pint.

Unfortunately it is basically a creche, and thus, unusable. I usually head to The Nags Head for its no child policy and the fact that on Fridays and Saturdays the landlady Flossie DJs from her own vinyl collection.

When I lived by Hoe Street I was right by the rose and crown which is a great community pub. However, the local MP acts like she owns the area and she'd always be in there acting up and I cba with it

Tavern on the Hill is now owned by WIldcard Brewery and does some fantastic food now. They had a guy who did a jerk sunday roast, was absolutely elite

I actually posted my experience as a cyclist which has negative impressions of drivers - triggered by you celebrating a poster confessing to committing assault

When I work in Farringdon I laughed at some graff that said "BEGGIN' 4 A PEGGIN" every day. Was lost to Crossrail. Cultural vandalism imo

Springsteen for me.

Every time I go to see him I feel like this old man from New Jersey who grew up in the 50's is talking about me, the son of Irish immigrants who grew up in London in the 90s.

That is skill

It absolutely was about that now, come on.

Incredible claim to say they're pound for pound the worst then in the same sentence say there's no data. Tfl data shows that 80% of people killed in incidents on Londons roads aren't in cars.

I starred cycling a few months ago, and whilst a lot of other cyclists' behaviour is pretty dispiriting, I gotta say, drivers in London are absolutely unhinged and far more dangerous (statistics would back that too).

The other week I was knocked off my bike at a combined cycling Nd zebra crossing in Hackney. There were some school kids crossing and I could see the driver wasn't stopping in time so cycled in front of it so it would hit me first. Luckily I was unharmed but as I stood up and remunstrated the driver said "sorry, I wasn't looking".

Partially I know I'm wasting my breath here, but it's easy to point at one group and say they're the problem, but on my way to and from work I'm constantly put in harms way by drivers failing to give way at junctions or doing dangerous over taking or illegal turns by people who value their convience over my safety or even the law.

Why am i saying this? Because for some reason in Britain across all generations there is a selfishness that is now completely unbound - I want what I want, I want it now, and I don't care if you get hurt for me to get it. This is much deeper than cyclists vs drivers, but tell yourself that if it makes yourself feel better

End of Term 23/24 – Attack

Personally I would be happy to never see Willock play for us ever again, and I know he's been inured but at points he general demeanour and endeavour has been absolutely appalling. Recall there was a game he kept telling Armstrong to stop running so much, presumably cos it made him look bad.

Yes, Chair is our best player but personally off the field stuff does sour it for me. I know you can't trust everything you hear, but a of chat he was the Tool Downer In Chief in the dressing room under Critchley, and then let's face it, we go down after our rivals go on a run inspired by a guy who was convicted of attempted murder. This place would be on fire. I know it's a weird one but it really doesn't sit right with me and every time I try to explain it away, I realise there it is, the last of my credibility has gone

I will not hear this Charlie Austin slander. He was incredible that season, playing most of it injured - his performance in the semi is one of the all time great Rs showings imo.

The only thing I'd change about the day is I wished he scored the goal instead of Zamora
