Despite dominating from start to finish, Swansea failed to fire in front of goal where strikes from Darryl Duffy and Leon Britton in either half settled the drab encounter.

Putting the tourists' disappointing display in perspective was that the home side - who were made up of local players - crashed to a 17-0 drubbing against Sparta Rotterdam just a fortnight ago.

There was never any chance that Swansea, who coincidentally face Sparta Rotterdam in their final game of the tour tomorrow, would rack up a cricket score against the minnows this time though.

New signing Ferrie Bodde was passed fit after missing Sunday's opening defeat against Telstar with a dead leg, while Duffy was included after recovering from a bout of food poisoning.

And it was Duffy who handed Swansea the perfect start when he headed home the opener after just nine minutes.

Kris O'Leary robbed home full-back Roland Alsemgeest and delivered an inch-perfect cross for the Scottish striker to glance his header inside the far post.

But any thoughts of the floodgates opening were ended thanks to a combination of wasteful finishing and agile keeping by Schipluiden's stopper Simon Dijkshoorn.

Bodde fired inches wide in the opening quarter and O'Leary should have hit the target when well placed moments later before the post and Dijkshoorn continued to frustrate the visitors.

Ian Craney and Marcos Painter then came close to extending Swansea's advantage before Duffy's luck in front of goal eluded him when his goalbound shot was deflected just over.

The home side provided little goal threat, with Arno Doorn coming closest to embarrassing Swansea.

It was the Welsh side who did all the running, yet they continued to huff and puff and the half-time whistle once again brought about wholesale changes from Martinez, with nine new faces for the second-half.

Jason Scotland, fit after a calf problem, was handed his Swansea bow but could do little to spark the Swans in front of goal as the chances dried up.

Fellow substitute Britton did manage to force a fingertip save from Dijkshoorn before Trinidad and Tobago striker Scotland was denied a debut goal when his header from Britton's cross was chalked off for offside in the 65th minute.

The summer arrival from St Johnstone was replaced soon after in a pre-determined move to give him a run-out - and his replacement, Joe Allen, helped extend Swansea's lead.

The teenage midfielder was upended on the edge of the box and quick thinking from Andy Robinson saw the pint-sized Britton finally slide the ball home with 76 minutes on the clock to settle the outcome.

Swansea face another amateur side in Alphense Boys tonight where Martinez will certainly be looking for an improved display and a glut of goals to boost preparations before the serious action kicks off in 11 days time.

Swansea: de Vries (Gueret 46), Tate (capt, Rangel 46), Lezou, Lawrence (Watt 46), Painter (Austin 46), Collins (Britton 46), Bodde (Pratley 46), O'Leary (McDonald 46), Anderson (Robinson 46), Craney (Scotland 46, Allen 72), Duffy (Morgan 72).
