Agree.
But, Barkley felt like EXACTLY the sort of signing we were making. Worked for them, didn’t for us.
Big part of that is the manager.
As you one said, sliding doors: very likely he would have come to us if Beale had left earlier. |

Palace fans I know are confident Olise will stay. He’s still very young. Eze, however, is 26. Now is the time for him really. Olise likes the manager and will prob give it another year. |

I leap to Marti's defence with the alacrity I leap to Ilias's. Letting him keep the captaincy was not a mistake. Stripping him of it would have been needless and could easily have provoked avoidable discord in the squad. Would have been utterly pointless. Cook and JCS both acted as captains anyway, and we don't need someone to get in the ref's ear. Just because other teams have gits like Ashley Barnes, there's no need for us to act like that. I know I'm in a minority on that one, but I firmly believe in respecting officials - as does Marti: we got a lot less yellows after he turned up. |

Luton have a good manager and likely won't lose many players - maybe Barkley. They'll be very strong.
Burnley should do well.
Agree with you: Wilder is a busted flush. It was madness bringing him back and he'll be gone by Xmas, with them floundering in 18th. |

Heat map line worth my patreon fee for a year.
I have to say last summer, with where we were and how little money we had, and the desperation I genuinely felt about Ainsworth tackling a whole season, I defended the signing as a decent stop gap. Someone fairly sound to do a year for us while we sort the effing GK situation out and have someone decent in place for 2024/25.
It didn't go as well as i hoped. But the real issue is, what is happening next season? I remain concerned he's getting another deal. |

Totally agree with this. Owners of clubs *never* complain about how much their players play - just as owners of any company couldn't give a sh!t how tired or stressed their workers are as long as they make their money. If anyone thinks Ange or Howe are in any way happy with this, they're deluded. I think managers whinge far too much in the Prem (tbf, Ange does not, and Howe doesn't really either), but I also think it's unfair to blame them for the demands of their bosses. |

Agree, there's nothing more small time than hoping your own team loses just so you can gloat about another team not winning anything (although they still finished above you and are by far a better side). Absolutely pathetic stuff from Spurs fans - their team at least showed some pride and played pretty well.
I never want Chelsea to win anything, but QPR winning comes before anything else. I'd rather us win a game to finish one place higher in mid-table and Chelsea win the treble than us lose. |

1. Why Barton didn't do what he normally did and simply fall to the ground, pole-axed, to get Tevez sent off.
2. Why Tevez wasn't sent off.
3. Why Tevez wasn't retrospectively banned when it was clear that he had punched Barton in the head. |

Let's not forget our first semi at Wigan! One of the worst games in history. First legs often seem to be far too cagey, allowing the comms to trot out the nonsensical, 'you can't win it in the first leg, but you can lose it'; which, if you think about it too much, will make your head explode.
Of the four, only Albion looked to have much ambition I thought, but they're an average team (Reach still getting game time for them!) with a very good manager. I think Albion might do Southampton, and I think Leeds will beat Norwich. |

Why bother reading his post about a pod and then reply then? Very odd behaviour.
Trust me, if Dave Mc thought he had the audience that would pay a patreon for WLS he’d do it in a heartbeat. The whole point of a patreon is that it is voluntary, and those who pay get occasional bonuses as a thank you. In Clive’s case, most of the pod interviews are then painstakingly transcribed and made available to everyone anyway. If patreon didn’t exist and we didn’t pay for it, Clive wouldn’t be here and we wouldn’t have the best club writer in the country because unless you’re a student, spending hours a week providing content for free is not a viable life choice (nor should it be). |

I don’t think it really works like that.
While I’m all for accountability, he would have been watched multiple times by different people. He had played a lot of men’s football at a young age and had obvious talent. At his age, it was worth a punt, in the hopes he could have been strengthened and improved.
It didn’t work, it’s good for him and us he’s gone, but I’m not that interested in a witch hunt. Signings are extremely difficult, no one gets them all right all the time (even brighton spent good money on taylor richards).
Likewise, Nourry getting a lot of love for letting players go. Well, that’s the easy bit. Kelman was inexplicably given a new deal a few weeks ago and a lot of smart business needs to be done this summer. |

Also, we let Chris Mepham go. Then Brentford sold him for about £20m. And he and his family are QPR fans.
Really dropped the ball there, although he's usually kind enough to not be at his best against us. [Post edited 10 May 14:44]
