Thought we played really well. Defended solidly, the whole back 4 were great apart from the odd miscontrol from Mbengue, but that’s being picky.
We showed real character to go again after the equaliser, we immediately looked like scoring after dominating the whole of the second half and a late goal at the Loft end is always special.
Very pleased for the whole squad and great to see Poku come on and show a bit, but MOM was Madsen. Wow. Every pass found its target and was played with perfect pace and onto the receivers correct foot. He battled, won headers and looked like a top central midfielder.

Those stats are simply not true though, Brian. Cook won and competed for more than one header all game! I saw that with my own eyes.
Dunne had a good game but there was one moment where he let the ball bounce, and was battling Dykes (lost out) rather than playing the ball and Cook came to cover. I didn’t see Cook put a foot wrong at all during the game. |

That's probably fair too, I'm sure he did a few more decent things than I'm giving him credit for.
He just looked a bit more shaky at times against Smyth, went over at one point, got called a vvanker a lot. Morr uncomfortable than other visits - e.g. he'd scored at least one winner in the past iirc.
Agree with others on Cook - thought he had a really solid game and helped keep things organised. Benefit of having a bit of a squad these days. |  | | |

Kone played further forward last night so they were a true “2” alongside each other. He didn’t drop into the ‘10’ position much at all, and I thought he looked a lot better for it. |  | | |

Agree RND was very good, closed down Roberts, BOS and their right side really well. Partly at fault for their goal though not picking up Roberts coming in behind him. [Post edited 10 Dec 12:51]

Nah, you can’t really blame RND for that . He was goalside, and square with his back 4 colleagues, where he was meant to be. The ball was pulled back across the middle of the box. If he was touch tight, a cross to the back stick would have been undefendable for him as Roberts would have had the run on him. This is why getting near to the byline and squaring it/pulling it back is so hard to defend. The issue was letting Gray have the ball where he did unmarked… | | | |

I thought last night was the first time we've played a "traditional" 4-4-2. it worked well for us, but the defensive side of Smyth & Kaito had a lot to do with this. | | | |

Think that was on Poku. He was stood centrally on the edge of the box and ball watching. I’m sure I saw JS giving him a roasting about it after the full time whistle.
Did like the look of Poku when he came on however, looks significantly stronger than Saito and Dembele. Hope he gets more minutes against Middlesbrough. | | | |

Strongly agree about RND (he was absolutely brilliant) and Burrell needing rest (I dread to think about him getting injured), but I'm not sure about Dembelé. He's looked best to me imo in that 10 role behind the main striker where he can get the ball often and isn't relied upon defensively.
If we use him to replace Burrell then I think we lose a lot of the press that has made us so dangerous recently. I'm not sure we have a player who can fill that role tbh, which makes me worried that we'll burn out Burrell. Maybe Kolli could've gone in there but he's injured again. |
