"I'll use it however I see fit." Thanks for illustrating so well my point that the Right's use of the term 'Woke' is now virtually meaningless.

The right's use of the term "Woke" has been so lazy and boring for years now that it's been rendered almost meaningless. It was cultural appropriation and misuse of African American political slang when first used pejoratively and those using the term today must lack either imagination, vocabulary or both.

Eze for England!
at 10:37 7 Jun 2024

The question now is, how much playing time might Eze get?

I assume Foden, Bellingham and Saka are the starters. However, Saka's form hasn't been good and Southgate appears to be making decisions on player form so that may not be the case.

I imagine Eze will be used as a sub, particularly in a tight game with England needing a breakthrough. Should he do well in that scenario, you never know, he could stake a real claim for a starting place.

Rangers SInce 1966-67 Without Rodney.

I wouldn't argue with any of that, but I am probably biased. As a young lad, I was totally fixated on Rodney. I guess all of us in the kids pen were. It's 100% his fault I became an R.

Man City - "Tryanny of the majority" by Konk 5 Jun 9:45
https://www.theguardian.com/football/article/2024/jun/04/manchester-city-launch-legal-action-against-premier-league-over-sponsorship-rules

If Abu Dhabi Carpet Showrooms want to pay £300m a season to have some adverts by the hand driers in the bogs at Man City, why should Man City have to turn that down? If the Abu Dhabi Auto repairs centre wants to pay £500m to sponsor Phil Foden's away socks, then shouldn't they be able to? Market forces and all that.

I'm wishing Man City all the best in their noble struggle against "the tyranny of the majority" Why should a club's autocratic, authoritarian owners have to operate in anything vaguely resembling a democracy? Given that the 7 richest PL clubs can veto any proposal from the others, and can use their influence to force through changes, you could argue that the majority aren't actually operating much of a tyranny.

I really, really, really hate the Premier League, and I really, really, really hate what Man City have become. A club I have always had a soft spot for, and I found myself in the very, very weird position of being almost desperate for Manchester fu cking United(!) to beat them in the cup final. And that was almost universal amongst my mates, all of whom hate Man Utd.

That would be the paper owned by Viscount Rothermere who lives in France, has non-dom tax status and owns his media businesses through a complex structure of offshore holdings and trusts so he doesn't pay tax. The famously patriotic Daily Mail readers must be so proud.

Excellent post, Konk and I very much agree with you. Citeh, the other big clubs and the Premier League continue to make football into a sport wholly different to the one I fell in love with as a lad. If we ever needed an example of how money corrupts, we have it in Premier League football.

Clarke has said Dykes is irreplaceable. I've never heard any of us describe him in that way.

A general election debate is just a reality TV show. The idea we could understand complex political issues through 45 second soundbites is simply ludicrous. No one should watch these shows to make any kind of informed decision on who to vote for.

It's interesting Clarke and Scotland put so much more value on Dykes than we do. The Dykes of Scotland compared to the Dykes of QPR is a real puzzle.

I'll be interested in the turn out in this election. It's very much been on the low side since the turn of the century and I wouldn't be surprised if this one is too.

There's an increasing number of people who have lost all faith in the political process and they're quite likely not to vote. And who can blame them? That and the inevitability of a Labour landslide is certain to have an effect.

Departures in the development squad

Well not quite. Sam Manufor and Conor Clark were recently announced as moving up from the U18s to the Dev squad. Last season Jake Leahy and Alfie Tuck gradually made their way up too.

Eze for England!
at 08:16 4 Jun 2024

Eze MotM on the BBC and Guardian websites, and some great compliments were made about him such as Leon Osman saying: "Eze is unique. He can glide with the ball and he can beat four players at a time. There are not many players that can do that, they are the types of players you need to unlock the door."

I think Eze has put himself on the plane, so to speak, but I am very biased. Even if he's not a starter, bringing him on for the last 20 minutes in a tight game would be a better option than most if not all others.
