Christmas time success! 21:07 - Dec 19 with 3718 viewseasthertsr

Can anyone remember a time that we did well over the festive season? I go back to the seventies and I can't remember one!

Seem to remember stuffing Swansea 4-0 on a Boxing Day, our promotion year I think not sure how the other games faired.

I think we did quite well against a certain Man U over a Festive Season once.

If at first you dont succeed, pack up and f**k off home.

Then 3 days later we lost 2-0 to Southampton....

Agree with original post. I cannot recall a string of good results over the Christmas period. Even in the good years we rarely(ever) put together back to back wins. Remember one season where we entertained Norwich at home, won 2-0 and played some lovely stuff, then(I'm sure it was), the next day we went to Highbury and rolled over.

Poll: Thank God The Seaons Over.

Having already lost to Newcastle 1-0 on the 22/12, then lost to West Brom 2-1 on the 26/12 and then lost to Liverpool 3-0 on 30/12......

Back in the days when I was a young shaver we (all clubs?) would play the same opponents twice over the Xmas season but whilst I seem to recall us drawing (away) with and then beating Torquay in the early sixties and drawing (away) with and then beating Brighton - before stuffing Watford on New Years Eve in 1966; I don't recall two wins until we beat Plymouth home and away the following year and even then it was a poor Plymouth side that finished bottom of the table at the end of the season.

Even in our golden season of 75/76 we managed to lose two of the three games we played over the period!

We beat Plymouth twice in 1967.
