Exactly. The BBC follows editorial guidelines when it comes to prioritizing and presenting “news” though, depending on the time of day. In recent years hard news has been either dumbed down, given far lesser priority than what is deserved, or ignored completely......The trouble is modern celebrity and the cult of has infiltrated all news, press and media streams.

Valid point there, its as if the papers had to find alternative subject material to fill the void that Diana left when it came to filling up newspaper space. The newspapers/press/media then focussed on 'celebrity' and saw it as an alternative to Diana.
And the vacuous, attention seeking drivel arrived in spades i.e. The Beckhams sitting on golden thrones at their wedding ceremony, other nonentities becoming stars courtesy of being married to a footballer, reality TV stars, Katie 'Jordan' Price.... etc.
And then came celeb descriptives/headlines in droves. Going to "rehab", suffering from "mental exhaustion" or some female celeb being either anorexic or bulimic and going through "eating disorder hell" with trips to the Priory Clinic....Lost count the number of cancer scares these celebs tend to get also.... And all in Hello Magazine or front page of The Sun. | |

He is clearly devastated that this is not ending on his terms and based on what I have seen in the press he isn't going to make it to Wimbeldon. Tennis fans might want to pay attention to what goes in in Australia as this may well be the end of Sir Andy Murray.
Nobody will come close to raising the hopes of British tennis fans for a very long time and we should be extrmely proud of his accomplishments - the Grand Slams, Wimbeldon in particular, Olympic titles, driving Britain to Davis Cup success and so on.
