"Swansea City has reported a pre-tax profit of £2.7m for the financial year ending July 31, 2020"

"The club employed an average of 321 members of staff - including playing staff, backroom staff and part-time matchday staff - during the year at a cost of £40.2m. This compared to 359 staff members at a cost of £48.9m the previous year — a reduction in staff costs of £8.7m."

Looking at the wages figure of £40.2m I am very surprised it’s was still so high, I think that’s serious cash and in probably in excess of what the parachute payment would have been. I know football clubs aren’t cheap, but I’d have though the wages bill would have been down a lot lower given it’s reported club’s like Reading are paying around £13m this season.
Forest had a turnover of £25m during their last financial reporting year and lost a lot of cash, if the Swans are going to be run on a sustainable footing then I’d expect to see some serious cuts in the ages bill going forward.

Not sure where you're getting those numbers as Reading paid £37.6m in wages in their 19/20 accounts year (£40.7m previous). Their wage bill is 211% of their turnover.

The majority of Championship clubs these days are spending £30m+ on wages every season.

For 2019-20, the total amount that Swansea City spent on agent fees is £5.19m only 3 clubs spent more.

We are actually one of a only a few clubs who under Huw Jenkins employed agents to sell, buy and mediate for the club. We were big spenders then, I wonder if we still do that.

As if by magic I open my inbox and 😂
25 deals involved agents that time around. Fees paid to agents involved in five of the seven loan deals completed by Steve Cooper . Transactions for Sam Surridge, Rhian Brewster, Ben Wilmot, Aldo Kalulu and Conor Gallagher are some of them. Nearly six million !

Plus agents fees for Bidwell and Peterson to go on loan apparently. And we paid a big chuck to an agent to get rid of Baston. Plus mediation payments for renewed contracts inc Liam Cullen, Jack Evans, Wayne Routledge, Steven Benda, Jordon Garrick, Ben Cabango, Brandon Cooper and Yan Dhanda too.

Nice money if you can get it.

Selling McBurnie turned a potential huge loss into a profit. This stuff isn't complicated. Current audience excepted.

An annual trading loss of £14m (£1.16m a month) Offset by £16m OMCB transfer fee giving a profit of £2m or so.

The club could carry on like this selling a player every season or cut the monthly loses to zero.

When fans demand 'investment' for new players they must mean they want fresh capital and dilution of their own ownership entity the SCST.

The SCST were worth £21m in 2016 but were reluctant to sell. Presumably if they had partially sold the members would demand they contribute to this "investment" of buying new players on a pro rata basis. These are issues the members like to circumnavigate and they do this by holding no cash and pleading poverty. They then disingenuously present dilution as a hostile act. Sensible people easily see through this.

I have alway suggested the 21% is far too big a holding for them and they should give up on having any significant clout within the club. Their holding should be 5% meaning they could service any cash call for a £10m number 9 by contributing 1 part in 20 or £500,000.

If the club could not sell a player the £8m cash reserves would be gone in 6 months and the current (2019-2020) rate of monthly loss or cash burn the club would be in trouble within 6 months. Clearly these monthly losses have to be slashed. I am in no doubt the CLN was required as was the sale of Rodon. The club had no choice but to accept the Spurs offer.

If the club get to the PL again the SCST must downside and cash in their chips and invest the cash sensibly. Property for example. Income could then service cash calls to maintain their 5% holding.

The SCST have to invest in something to avoid the effects of inflation. Property is the least scary thing for novice investors.

So the next accounts will be from 1st August 2020.

The wages of Peterson, CBR, Montero, VDH, Mulder, Dyer, Celina, Rodon and Asoro have gone since then. Transfer fees of around £17mill? (potentially rising in Rodon's case).

Probably some of the wages of Mckay, John, Byers, Garrick off too.

I know some were at the club slightly after August 2020 but that's got to be roughly £10mill yearly saving on wages there?

Did we recently get a windfall as part of Mcburnies transfer? Or Dan James?

Ins since Aug 2020 or slightly before: Bennett, Lowe, Manning, Whittaker, Freeman, Latibeaudiere, Hamer and Smith on permanents. About £1.6mill fees??

Difficult to say on wages taken on. Roughly £2.5mill a year??

Loans in that we'll have been paying for at least a part of the season: MGW, Palmer, Gyorkeres, Arriola, Morris, Hourihane.

No idea what loan fee and or wages we've paid for those.

Also Woodman and Guehi but both we with us last season so in that sense there's no extra taken on, unless Newcastle and Chelsea have charged us more this season than last.

And i guess that Routledge and Naughton took pay cuts to stay an extra season. Not sure who got a payrise.

Of course you will make a profit when you are willing to spend feck all and sell any assets that you have.

The yank coonts are only here to make money for their greedy dirty selves nothing more nothing less.

Funny how some of their rsole lickers have spun their unwillingness to invest ANY of their money only the clubs and TAKE US TO THE NEXT LEVEL 😂😂😂😂😂 to be a positive and at the same time make the Trusts £21 million worthless, but that was easy with the halfwits that ran/run the Trust who were obviously in bed with the sellout scum.

The Americans are definitely here to make money. That's obvious. But they have technically now invested some of their own money in (a loan currently, could be converted).

Why do you think the trust were in bed with the sellouts? If they were i doubt the sellouts would have gone behind their back to sell the club?

Certain members of the Trust, not all and not even a majority of them.

I think you will find that some have been found to have had very close links to the sell outs.

Yea i get that some certainly got too cosy. But that should in theory have lead to the opposite of what happened and makes the sellouts actions even more sly.

"The Trust's £21M" is an illusion. An image that passed you by 5 years ago. The SCST shares are probaby now worth £8-12m. They were only close to 'worthless' in 2002 when they bought 20% of the club for a rock bottom price of £200k.

This idea that actions can "make the SCST shares worthless" is a myth. It becomes worthless if the club goes bankrupt. even in adminstration they might get 5% recovery.

The US people have injected £5-10m into the club. They do not want to but have no choice. The "Limeys" are no use in a time of crisis.

Even if the SCST win thier dubious court case they will only see about £13m. To see the £20m + the SCST have to hitch on to the US Wagon train and head west for new productive pasture land back in the PL.

All the people that ran the Trust were elected by members.

Average Championship wage for a first team player is supposedly ~£16k/week these days. If we assume Bennett, Lowe, Manning and Smith are on that as established players at this level (or higher) that's £3.3m plus tax before we add the younger and backup players.

Woodman got a new contract at Newcastle before coming back to us so might well have cost more as a proven Championship goalkeeper.

With the first Cooper season with the likes of Montero Borja and Carroll on the books as remnant Premier league players the club were losing £1.1m a month.

With that same scenario after this season having removed those players Swansea will be still be losing losing £1.5m a month or £18m a season. That is covered by the Rodon sale and the CLN loan.

I suspect all senior players from the PL days will have to be replaced Routleldge cannot not have another season of 5 or 6 games. Naughton will need to be replaced. Benda, Brandon Cooper, Latibeaudiere, Garrick, Ollie Cooper Whittaker and Cullen must come into the first team to get the wages under control. Indications are that they are all credible championship players that will only get better (and more valuable). Dan Williams, Lewis Webb, Al Hamadi and Josh Thomas may be useful off the bench and flitting between first team and u23 action.

I thought the reason Spurs got Rodon so cheaply was because it was all paid up front? There isn't a lot of money in the outstanding debtors/creditors section on the accounts, decks more or less cleared from the point a few seasons ago where we had that massive PL deficit.
