Very sad news.
Great memories of the Keegan/Toshack combination at Liverpool.
One of the first players i recall venturing overseas to Hamburg.
His stint on Superstars and the advert with Henry Cooper re the brut aftershave hark back to a happier time.
Played and managed with his heart on his sleeve at all times, gave all for whoever he played for.

He never played for Scunthorpe at Spotland. His debut for them was 5 weeks after the opening day of the 1968/69 season.
He played in the return fixture at the Old Showground, but by the time we faced Scunthorpe again, Keegan was with Liverpool. [Post edited 20 Jul 23:17]

He did. Sadly he brought Paul Dickov with him and finished Gary Brown's career. It was a good turnout and he let Rochdale keep all the takings as a gesture of goodwill.
I had lunch with him once. Nice guy who could remember almost every game, the result, and every goal he scored. Almost photographic a memory around football. But had almost no knowledge of the world around him. He really was fully immersed in the game. The Man City players loved him. | | | |
