The old saying, “Be careful what you wish for” is true enough, but too many Welsh people need to be careful what they vote for when it brings something they did not wish for. https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news It will be interesting to hear what emerges from the conference of the woke.

Absolutely bang on.. I went to Belfast earlier this year and done "The troubles" tour on Falls road and Shankill and both loyal and republian tour guides said that the illegal imagrant problem are uniting both sides, they all said both sides want the "peace" wall taken down so they can carry on with thier lives but the government want it up.

| Know them by their friends on 18:02 - Sep 14 by SullutaCreturned | There are genetic differences, google it, or here, Key Genetic DivisionsNo single "Celtic" group: Populations in Wales, Scotland, Cornwall, and Northern Ireland are genetically distinct from one another rather than forming one uniform non-English group. [1] ( https://www.ox.ac.uk/news/2015 Welsh are the most distinct: People in Wales carry DNA closest to the earliest post-ice-age settlers of the British Isles and lack major Anglo-Saxon or continental shifts seen elsewhere. Even North and South Wales show clear internal genetic differences. [1] ( https://peopleofthebritishisle [2] ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ [3] ( https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-wa [4] ( https://www.ox.ac.uk/news/2015 homogeneity: Central, southern, and eastern England form a large, relatively uniform genetic cluster showing 10% to 40% Anglo-Saxon ancestry mixed with native populations. [1] ( https://www.ox.ac.uk/news/2015 and Devon: Cornwall behaves as a separate genetic group divided cleanly along county lines from Devon. [1] ( https://www.ox.ac.uk/news/2015 and Shetland: The Northern Isles are the most genetically isolated and distinct in the UK, with Orkney showing roughly 25% Norwegian Viking ancestry. If there was a vote on the Senedd, I'm sure it would be abolished. a very expensive talking shop. The other interesting one would be a vote by the english to get rid of Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. I'm sure that the yes vote would prevail. | | | |

If voting was mandatory you’d be right. Unfortunately not enough can be bothered apart from those who are pro Senedd / independence. Apathy rules and costs.

That's the point, there will be very little pure blood anywhere, we all carry DNA from a lot of places.in Wales alone there's Italian, Spanish, Norse and Germanic just to start with. We are all a mix. Our genetic make up is a jigsaw puzzle.

I wish our land to be called Briton Never again then would I have to here those shallow, almost moronic words "back in England". Our DNA shows us what we are and are more closely related than many would like. It would get rid of those telling us we shouldn't be playing in an english league as well.

Things people do not like are always too expensive. It's an excuse. The fact is you do not like Welsh semi self determination and would prefer to be run by an Englishman in the Welsh office which was also very expensive. We have privileges because our ancestors fought for them. They fought to be different from the English. That is the way it is. If we surrender we give up international sports teams like the national football team and other international cultural events. This will cost us billions. We have apathetic Welsh that favour surrender and anonymity. They want Wales to hide under a stone. They are barely Welsh at all. They cannot even be arsed at least respect their own culture. They want to become the new Cumbria. God help us. Cymru am byth.

The English quite rightly not accept it. Tomas Tuchel leads out Team GB at Wembley to God save the King. Ingerland the fan's chant. They always did and always will . God bless them they have more backbone than some feeble Welsh on here.

Just have a two question referendum,no frills just basic questions. 1) Do you want independence for Wales. 2) Do you want to abolish the Senedd and hand power back to Westminster. Who could possibly object to finding out exactly what the Welsh voters want.

Only if I didn’t get there before you. But we are switched on to what’s going on. Many aren’t and I wonder how many if those apathetic people wouldn’t vote. It should be mandatory. Aldo, as I’ve said before, to change the status quo should not be a 50%+ margin but at least 65% to cater for the apathy. That didn’t happen in 1997 but should have. IF there is ever a ]n independence referendum God forbid then it should be amended. [Post edited 15 Sep 9:13]

Any call for a referendum needs to be quashed by the Government just like Spain have done with the Basque region. It’s not in anyone’s interest and those who want it are blinded by some romantic notion that paradise due to freedom from the oppressive English 🤣🤣🤣 will ensue. This is Middle Ages thinking.

I did one of those DNA tests a few years back as OHL will testify I've got the lick of the tarbrush about me and was expecting to uncover something exotic but nope 60% Celtic Brythonic(Irish, Welsh Scots) 39.8% Anglo-Saxon. Until the 1970s when immigration started ramping up that ratio in variations 50/50 40/60 60/40 would have been typical for most x-sections of people living on the British mainland because we have been cut off from mainland Europe for millennia and have moved around and interbred in that time. There are only really 5 main Y-DNA Haplogroups for Britain and Ireland and one of them is probably a leftover from Roman times they were only here for a few hundred years but they left a genetic footprint from all corners of their empire. The 0.2% was Middle Eastern and likely a part of this Roman footprint. Genetics is a fascinating and complex subject and you're right a jigsaw puzzle with distinct genetic markers and then various subgroups. There is a common marker in Wales that is shared with Eire and Scotland but there are also differences between North and South Wales and then you have the Landsker influence of the Normans in the South West. What is wrong with a referendum Wales will vote no to independence, throw in a referendum on keeping the Senedd and its job done, give the people what they want, not what the Senedd wishes to impose on the Welsh public.

It could happen because of a glitch in public opinion. Hence one of the reasons that it should be a 2:1 majority not 50:50.
