The Electronic Cigarette and the Law.
The Law introduced in the United Kingdom in the Health Act 2006, banned the use of tobacco based cigarettes in public places. The Act was introduced in response to where tobacco based cigarettes kills over 100,000 people each year in the UK, as lit tobacco produces tar, carcinogens, carbon monoxide and up to 400 other toxic substances.
In Chapter 28 that incorporates the Smoking ban, the definition of smoking is stated as : smoking refers to smoking tobacco or anything which contains tobacco, or smoking any other substance, and smoking includes being in possession of lit tobacco or of anything lit which contains tobacco, or being in possession of any other lit substance in a form in which it could be smoked. The user of a electronic cigarette device is excluded from this Act as the device contains no tobacco; it is not ignited, and produces no smoke from burning substances.
The electronic cigarette can be used in any location and within any premises that introduced a ban on tobacco based cigarettes with the introduction into Law of the Health Act 2006.
It appears football stadiums are a law to themselves and can dictate what laws they agree with and what ones they don't. E cigarettes are legal everywhere with the exception to the inside of a football stadium. [Post edited 4 Aug 2013 0:20]

I use them on occasion. Mostly while flying long haul with little problem and I've used it at a football ground before the ethiad for THAT game , stood next to two copper beer in one hand electric ciggie in the other no problem atall even sat in the front row of the upper tier , smoking it and passing it along to anyone else who needed a drag .
Was told at Swansea last year that I would be ejected for using one though as it would appear to others that I was having a real ciggie and cause problems !!!!!!!! You couldn't Make it up |  |

There was a fiasco in the away end when one of the Wednesday fans kept pulling on the wiring of one of the cameramen. The stewards went to pull out the offender, didn't act together, and got repulsed by the Wednesday fans. |  |

I'm not in favour of banning smoking altogether in the stadium,but when you consider that everyone entering our so called family stand are exposed to smoking on a massive scale.Also the haze of tobacco wafts up the stairs too.
God forbid that an unaccompanied adult manages to sneak past the stewards and damage the poor children's ears by shouting too much,but it seems ok to inflict damage that selfish smokers are doing to their lungs. | | | |

COMPLAIN big style the Sheffield Wednesday fans chucked the flair on the pitch, constantly spitting on the pitch and at the camera man. kept ripping of the signs on the wall down. one even got the cable pulled it and tried stealing the microphone after being told off went and did it again then refused to hand it back after serval complaints by QPR fans absolutely nothing was done and one steward even high fived the tw@ts. But they didn't seem to have any problem escorting QPR fans straight out of the ground for next to no reason. One QPR throw a pasty at the Wednesday fans they throw it back the QPR fan got chucked straight out but they did nothing to the bloke who chucked it back. So throw a pasty straight out throw a flair it's all good no real harm done ??????? [Post edited 4 Aug 2013 9:38]
