When Hughes/TF say that certain signings tick all the boxes, you assume they have some criteria for new players. It's hard to believe Owen gets past points 1 (fit) and 2 (desire to play football).

I'm not convinced we need a great deal more. I personally think we could do with a decent right-back, young(ish) and experienced...I would love a Danny Simpson with something still to prove. 25-man squad would look as follows:
Green - Murphy - Cerny
Simpson - Young - Fabio - Traore
Hill - Ferdinand - Onuoha - Nelsen
Park - Taarabt - Mackie - SWP
Diakite - Faurlin - Derry - Barton - Dyer(!)
Zamora - Cisse - Johnson - Bothroyd - Helguson
OUTS: Kenny, Connolly, Smith, Ephraim, Campbell, Hulse
I would absolutely love Toure, Jarvis and Hoilett in there instead of Young, Dyer (who I'm still hoping to stay injury-free in blind optimism) and Helguson, but realistically we can't keep signing all of these upper-end players this summer. The outlay on wages would be unsustainable, and the key to our decent run at the end of last season was a settled XI. Can we realistically expect the likes of Ferdinand, Taarabt, Jarvis or Hoilett to hang around as fringe players? I expect us to sign further quality but perhaps with another Premier League season under our belts.
Perhaps the only other addition would be a defensive midfielder as cover for Barton's ban and Faurlin's return to match fitness. Perhaps a Jake Livermore on a short-term loan | | | |

I think DJ Campbell's problem will be that his game is too similar to that of Cisse and Johnson. He doesn't do too much of it but Bothroyd does offer something different looking for the ball to feet. With only 5 or 6 forwards to choose for we probably need a bit of variety | | | |
