The alternative is that the timing was orchestrated to enable a two week delay in appointing someone and as such delay the amount of time to spend money. TF's been out tapping up managers for some time imho,a very swift decision otherwise why no caretaker appointed?
This thing about not picking someone like Curbs wh's been out of the game "too long".Someone like that will have kept the old finger on the pulse and will probably have been rejuvenated by the rest.It's a different thing from a player being out for a bit.
