But she just smiled and turned away — Report
at 14:28:43

Excellent report, as ever Clive. Frankly, I'm astonished at the calls for Warbs to go. He's the best manager we've had since El Tel in my opinion, and that includes Uncle Neil, who I think got lucky. What seems to have happened is, quite simply, we've choked, as many others have done before us. Freewheeling and fearless when nothing's at stake, then when the cruch comes, the team couldn't handle the pressure of expectation - as have many before us, just look at how many times it happened to Brentford. If Warbs has a weakness, it's that he doesn't yet know how to handle the choking either, because I doubt he's ever come across it (maybe at Rangers?) - but he and the team will learn, and be better for it. In any event, we are not in any way ready for the Premiership, and promotion would be great and followed by a totally miserable season before immediately coming back down. I was speaking with my good mate Ian from Burnley - you've met him a few times before - and we both agreed that desperately looking to scrape a few points each season just to stay up is no fun at all. I hate to say it, but we probably need to follow the way the 'Bus Stop in Hounslow' have done it. And finally - clipping a lyric from 'American Pie' is genius......

Ambitious Hughes takes intriguing career move to QPR
at 10:51:43

Good assessment. I may be fanciful, but what if....he builds a legacy here over the next 5 years, new team, new stadium, youth system.....could he still be with us in 10 years, with us regular Champions League participants, and a production line in the image of his old mentor Fergy? We can but dream, but why not? Biggest threat is he jumps to Tottenham when Harry goes to England or the Scrubs in the summer, but it would be a poisoned chalice....here expectations are low, and he could make himself a legend. Could happen! Looking forward to Sunday!

Fernandes gambles everything on Warnock sacking

Excellent well written article, thoughtful and balanced. NW did a great job, but it seems he was literally 'out of his league' in the Premiership. Tactically we have been naive, the players seem confused, and it was clear weeks ago to a lot of us in the Upper Loft that he didn't seem to have any ideas on how to adapt. The whole team looked like they needed better coaching tactically and technically, and no-one could see where that was going to come from. You only had to watch the warm-ups before each game (compared to Utd and City for example)...dull, low energy, going through the motions, and technically a number in the squad could really do with improvement. NW, despite many strengths, is not known for making players better. Sadly, I agree that the decision should have been taken 2 weeks ago, but all credit to TF for taking the tough decision now. As for Mark Hughes, who knows? Not known for a Rangers style of football, but can we afford that at the moment? Survival is all. Manager gone and our 3 most skillful players (Ale, Adel, and Armand) all unavailable. Still, I've had 45 years of this, so why should I expect anything different. Plus ca change....
