BIden v Trump - and we thought our options were poor !!
at 18:00 23 Jul 2024

Well respected might be a bit of a narrow view, honestly.

If she runs a great, gaff free campaign, where anything unusual she says is immediately reframed as a positive, and she lands solid blows on Trump in any potential debate, I think she's got a good chance.

But her previous dem nomination campaign didn't go like that, and the pent up dam of money flooding in has to be more in response to the renewed possibility of beating Trump, not how great Kamala is.

I really want it to work but I'm not hopeful for now.

Well, 0.5.

Let's hope 0.5 is enough.

Half decent tv
at 11:36 22 Jul 2024

I watched that new documentary on Netflix last night - Skywalkers.

I'd guess a certain amount of the storyline was probably managed or staged for the cameras, but the actual footage of them going up the buildings was undoubtedly nerve jangling.

Abbb-solute nutters.

Was a decent run out yesterday, more to come as far as creativity once Chair comes back in.

Smyth had a superb first half I thought - looked as sharp as I've seen him. Noticed Morrison get up really well to get in the end of one of our corners - think there's more to come there.

Santos did have a mixed game. Part of that seemed to be based on how he linked up with the others, which is bound to improve over time. He often looked frustrated
with himself when moves broke down.

Also, I love Jimmy Dunne like the rest of us but I will say he has a habit of moaning at the winger in front of him which isn't always very constructive. He does it with Smyth and he was doing it with Santos. But I know they should be able to take it so fair enough I suppose.

I remember that as being fairly popular.

Have been wondering for a while now if it would be sacrilege to resurrect it!

Thanks Clive. We must have one or two on here familiar with the Swiss Super League? Would love to hear how they feel that compares with the Championship.

But in the spirit of the title, we swapped a 21 year old, who was going for free in 12 months time and on a 1 in 15 goal scoring ratio, with a 25 year old on just under a 1 in 2 ratio.

Considering Armstrong's contract situation, the only way this could turn out to not be such a good move is if Sincs goes to Bristol and hits the kind of form that would have carried us into the playoffs.

I very much doubt that will happen, and even if it does he might not have done it with us if he'd stayed and run down his contract. So all seems very positive at this stage.

That deal is actually above what was rumoured isn't it?

Unbelievable business if that's the case.

He has a very respectable ratio of goal-splats into the old onion bag per game-match.

Which for us of late is just mental, at any level.

tottenham frendly roll call....

I'm going to both, sad bastard.

Got an email this morning about the Brighton game though: the SB is being closed due to low sales, and tickets there are being reallocated to the Bhatia Megastand.

Answering my own post, I wonder if them both meeting the valuation lends weight to the idea that it was a daft number in the first place - like £2.5mill.

Still think it might be worth going back and saying "Actually we had another look at the numbers and we'd really need [insert even funnier figure]", but I'm no Warren Buffet.

I see it says here re Brizzle and Stroke, 'Both clubs are understood to have reached QPR’s valuation, considering he’ll be available on a free next summer, and have left the decision in the player’s hands.'

Shouldn't we be getting them to outbid each other?

Another one for Hanwell. Decent atmosphere and amenities and easy enough to get to. Bah humbug etc.

Wouldn't it be beautiful if our club, for once, could be the context for one of those 'silly money' situations?

In the right direction of course. Not going to happen but one can dream.
