Will Hughes is a player i’ve always admired. 31 now and I imagine he’ll be looking for a move at some point. Probably too ambitious a signing for us but i can dream.
I think I’ve mentioned it on here before but I’ve got this weird thing about putting newly washed plates at the bottom of the pile when being put away in the cupboard. Same for the cutlery draw, newly washed spoons and knives must be put away underneath the ones already resident. For some reason the rule doesn’t apply to forks, it’s anarchy in there and I imagine there are a few festering at the bottom that haven’t seen daylight in years!
I had the ‘pleasure’ of going to TG Jones the other week. I’d ordered a 2026 diary from them online that had been reduced to £2 or something like that and opted to click and collect it from their Chiswick store. On picking it up I was greeted by a staff member who I gave the collection code to and the conversation went something like…
TGJ - Oh it arrived yesterday, you’ve been waiting a long time right?
CLBR - No I only bought it the other day.
TGJ - (after handing me the item) We were selling these for 99p last month but they’ve all gone.
One of my favourites of these is Tony Witter. He was with us from 1991-1994 and only made one appearance in a 4-1 hammering at Villa Park in August 1993 and was never seen again. The game is notable for being Andy Townsends debut and also had some brilliant goals including a wonderful volley from Sir Les that rifled into the top corner of the Holt End.
I’ve always thought the best thing about him is his passing. He probably missed his chance with us last season when he got injured just when we needed him. Hasn’t looked as good to me since and quite a few players ahead of him now but hopefully a run of games might help.
