Terrible tackle on Kone tonight when he was playing for the DS, presumably for fitness.
Bolton player nearly snapped his ankle in half, fingers crossed it’s not a bad one!

Probably one of the poorest first halves we’ve played in recent memory followed by one of the best we have played! Absolutely monstrous mentality as soon as we came back out after the break and we probably should have won.
Adamson was excellent, we suddenly now have 4 really good fullbacks, although Cirkin is a wally for that tackle. Was over the top and not needed, I thought it was a red before the ref pulled his card out, others may disagree.
Saito made a big difference and although didn’t quite have the end product, was so direct and positive the rest of the team followed suit. Smyth also had a big impact coming on at right back and scored a brilliant goal.
I know it’s only Preston, but we need to enjoy this team as we have lacked bollocks for many years and we now have big characters all through the squad.
Only negative for me was Dunne, who didn’t look fit and up to his usual high standards and Lloyd who should have scored twice.

I think Varane was limited but he was ok today, few diagonals to try and open them up and didn’t stop running, the bar is low with him but credit where credit is due |

Or they could have just watched the last game, seen him limp off with what is most likely a muscle injury and make an accurate assumption that he won’t play in 3 days.
I get what you’re saying if it’s a small knock and a player may miss 1 game or might be ok, or a player is coming back from injury and they don’t want opponents to know exactly when, but it’s ridiculous hiding the length of time out when the player is clearly not going to play. |

So maybe it’s even more relevant then, if he’s played nearly 300 games at 28, starting at 21 as well as hardly playing for the last year… |

Chair may also be suffering from the very common case of too many games too young - as per Sterling, Rooney, Dele and Owen and lots of other top players who played every week from the age of 18 and were done by 28 with 300 or 400 games under their belt… |

I think he’s been more honest and open this season in 6 games than he was the whole of last season. He was toeing the company line before, now he calls the team out after every game.
Which makes me like him much more |

Teams will be aware of our weakness of winning with more possession, so more and more of them will just let us have the ball. It’s worked for Bolton, Charlton and Boro already |

I think it’s the communication strategy of our injuries that piss so many of us off. Yes we know players get injured and yes we know all clubs think they are the worst affected but if the club didn’t lie or ignore the injuries then I don’t think it would be as big of an issue.
Also, I assume we don’t release the info to give us an advantage over the opposition, but that hasn’t worked in any games ever. We have never won due to someone like Saito being out for 2 weeks rather than 3! |

I read somewhere that on average clubs in the championship have 10-20% of their squad out injured at any point in the season. Which would suggest we have more injuries than most. However can’t verify that stat so I might be totally wrong |

Agreed but I do think if there was more movement in front of them, Madsen and Kamara would no take the extra pass and play it forwards earlier. Every time they looked up there was nothing so they just recycled possession.
Anyway, I don’t feel as negative as some on this thread, it’s been a good start to the season |

We have been very close to winning every game we’ve played this season, which compared to 6 months ago is a massive improvement.
We are a striker light, as there is zero movement up front, hence the extra pass in midfield and generally weak finishing from the wide forwards.
However, it is mainly positive and we are finally a genuine force |

I think there are clear signs that our manager has learned a lot from his first season at this level. Similar to players that come from abroad, maybe he needed a year to get into it. It’s great to see a clear game plan in our games so far this season and long may it continue. |
