 | Forum Thread | Ex Saint coach Callum McFarlane in charge at Chelses at 12:35 3 Jan 2026
Callum McFarlane who was our under 21 coach before he joined Chelsea to coach their under 21's. He has now been promoted to coach Chelsea first team albeit probably only interim.. But that would suggest that Chelsea do rate highly to trust him with the first team after all of the big name coaches they have had. |
 | Forum Thread | It's obvious now, the owners & the players don't want promotion. at 11:09 2 Jan 2026
The Owners have stated that we're not equipped to play in Premier lge & the players are afraid of getting promotion. It has become obvious that when TE took over & our results picked up & we got within touching distance of the play offs that everybody took there foot off the gas. Not because they thought they were good enough to get promoted but because they know they as a club & individually they are just not good enough for Premier Lge. Many of our players were part if the team that took us down & they all struggled in the Premier lge. They know that if they get promoted then they would probably get left out of the team or would be playing in a team that's likely to get hammered each week so they have decided its best to make sure that we don't get promoted. Yes they'd be on more money but only for a season & they are not exactly on bad money playing in Championship. |

Manning spends more time facing his own goal than facing the opposition goal. He receives the ball facing his own goal & doesn't even consider turning, having a look or playing the ball forward. The only time he faces the opposition goal is when he bombs forward & then gets caught out of position. |

On the Sky Sports live coverage of the match today it had Tonda as " Interim Manager". Have I missed something, I thought he'd been appointed as manager on 2 year contract. That's NOT interim. |

What's the point of having Managers that don't know what they're doing. We've had so many of them. But perhaps we don't need a Manager at all because Skack Jack picks the team & he's the first name on the team sheet. |

I can't even be bothered to comment on what I witnessed this afternoon. I wouldn't be able to say it without swearing. |

I agree, Baz is just not tall enough or a big enough presence & it costs us goals every game. You're right a taller keeper would have saved the Birmingham header. Also the save he made to tip the ball onto his upright looked spectacular but again a taller keeper would have reached it & saved it easily. I've said before that Baz makes the simple saves look spectacular but cannot stop the more difficult ones. He always looks nervous & this affects the defenders, they don't trust him that's why they drop off & defend so deep. Macca might not be a great keeper but he's taller & much calmer than Baz which gives the defence more confidence. Also we don't persist playing the stupid tippy tippy stuff across the back when Macca is in goal. |

We won't be playing next game because he looks to play the ball forward, can't have that can we. He looks a very good young player, lot's of potential. |

It takes a good manager to get the best out of disruptive / difficult players. That's just what Chris Wilder is , a good manager, with more attitude than any of the players. I was dissapointed that we didn't go for Chris Wilder earlier in season when he was available. |

I think all of our players find 90 mins hard. That's why we fall apart in 2nd half of games. |
 | Forum Thread | What.our best player benched. at 19:14 29 Dec 2025
I just don't get it, Leo who has been our best player by a distance this season is benched for tonight's game against Birmingham. Slack Jack is preferred to Quarshie. I hate to say this but I'm already starting yo lose faith in Tonda. |

Not just his injury record in question also a question over his attitude. Rumours have that he's a cocky, arrogant & a bad influence. I'm not too bothered that we didn't go for him. He us not the reason that Sheff U have picked lately, that is down to Chris Wilder going back to the club. |

I agree with your comment about Romeu. As much as I loved him & his commitment when he was with us previously he does now sadly look as if his legs have gone, he's never been quick but now he's painfully slow. But he didn't cost us anything & I'm sure he's a positive influence at training & in the dressing room. Or is he, because the team looks as if they have downed tools since he's been in the squad, hopefully that's just a coincidence. I think part of the problem is that Tonda is younger than some of the squad & there's a lack of respect for him. |

We have conceded more goals than Oxford. Until we solve the problem of conceding then we’re just an average Championship side. |
 | Forum Reply | Oxford Game Matchday Thread at 17:04 26 Dec 2025
That was dire. I've seen better Sunday morning games than that. This bunch of players just don't care enough, other teams want it more than we do. The opposition don't have better players but they are better organised & more committed. Why do we persist with playing 3 ctr backs. It leaves us so exposed on the flanks with Manning & Fellows playing as wingers. Hate to say this but our substitutions made us worse again, Romeu looks a slow shadow of what he used to be, likewise Fraser & as for Archer he offers nothing. |

What about this one. " Everytime I get my Xmas lights out to put up , I think of Scousers. Because half of them don't work & those that do are dim". Apologies to any Scousers on this forum. [Post edited 24 Dec 2025 14:15]

You're right Grumps Leeds do have a battle to stay up but I think they might just survive. Wolves & Burnley will go down & I'm hoping that West Ham do as well. |

Leeds & Sunderland promoted Last season. Neither spent a fortune & both look like surving the first season in Premier lge. Not sure if they'll survive next season. Burnley will go straight back down this season. It is such big challenge going from Championship to Premier lge but it can be done but I'm not sure we can achieve whilst owned by SR. |
