Open All R's
at 13:06 8 Dec 2023

Can concur that Open All R's has fallen a bit - they have good guest's but the sound quality matched with the self-focus irritates me. Like whenever Finney losing connection or is on mute and somebody is making a great point, you'll often hear them interupted with: "Oh feck, the dog was barking" or some random nonsense. I can't fault the effort however. Was great back in the day and is an option but really needs some focus to get it's levels up.

WLS is now for me the best of the lot. Would Clive ever join Kev and Ian for a pod or two?

Match day pub.....and why.
at 10:49 11 Oct 2023

Started White Horse but then stumbled upon The Shepherd and Flock which used to have a cracking atmosphere and pint of Guinness.

Now I go between O'D's, Flock and the Stewart arms. Stewart arms will get some away fans from time to time but it's nice pub, good service, footy etc and it's not as packed as others.

Anyone have any feelings on timelines?
at 10:31 9 May 2023

Would guess with the season tickets being announced in a few weeks - they've done this because they want good news to follow getting fans to sign up. Makes sense as currently there is little 'enticement' for those on the fence.

So if there was any big announcements I'd expect them in the next 2 weeks.

As for the players - I would guess we will find out in a similar time whether or not a player is extended, released or signs a new contract.

As for players who are being sold - all depends whether we have an offer for them. You'll know if we do because probably WLS will have some articles about it.

Next season s squad - any one got suggestions for signings
at 19:21 8 May 2023

What I've read from Reading fans is he threw in the towel over there and has been a bad apple for a while. Need to avoid players like this even though they are the type of number 10's we wanted to buy in the past.

Players To Keep
at 19:32 1 May 2023

To keep:
- Field
- Dunne
- Paal
- Kakay (Limited in ability, but never went missing)
- Dykes (should thrive under Ainsworths style)
- Armstrong
- Walsh (want to see him actually get a run)

Have to keep:
- Richards (part of the loan deal)
- JCS - 4 year deal.
- Dozzell (has another year, nobody silly enough to buy him)
- Adomah (think he has 1 more year)
- Johansen (also has 1 more year)

Everybody else I would release or sell if an offer came in for them.
- Dieng probably the easiest to sell
- Chair probably integral to our hopes to rebuild (Most value).
- Willock, he left when Beale/Banfield did
- Dickie will be a harder sell but may still be able to contribute to whatever money we need for next season.

What this pending relegation will tell us all
at 19:34 15 Apr 2023

Like the time we was originally promoted to PL under Warnock - we had a good thing going (in this case - Warburton) and got ahead of ourselves thinking we could do better (Beale) and well - FUBAR.

Even the slightest of progress under Warburton despite the usual mid-season collapses, we was never in real danger of relegation. Gosh I miss our safe warm 16th spot now. Although the season we lost Hugill, Wells and Eze from our attack I did worry about our ability to score but alas he found a way.

I think it's going to be the epitome of the Fernandes and co era. I do wonder whether they have the gumption to stick it out in league one.

Dickie is the worst centre half I have seen in a Rangers shirt in years

At this rate, if we must play a back four its:

Drewe/Laird Kakay/Gubbins Dunne Paal

Dickie should be though. I think he's the right sided Barbet. Shocking in a back four but decent in a back 3.

Manager gets what manager wants
at 10:06 21 Feb 2023

Clint Hill mentioned something on the QPR Pod the other day, about how bigger clubs hoover up young talent and makes it harder for QPR and when many of those youngsters fail to make it they struggle to adapt to other clubs. This is because kids in academy's at Chelsea, Utd, City etc all are brought into to be coached how to play for City, Utd or Chelsea and when they drop down divisions they often struggle.

This for me is very true and probably why I feel our approach to blooding young talent hasn't been as fruitful and players are actually not good enough to make the grade..

At this point I would be more inclined to listen to Gaz over Les when it comes to lower league players. Les may have contacts in prem academies but a majority of them don't have what QPR need imo. We need characters, leaders, players who can take adversity and I think we're finding that Premier League academy players don't have that because they've been wrapped in cotton wool.

Why get rid of Les?
at 11:42 20 Feb 2023

For me Les has made some errors. The biggest is getting rid of stability. Even though we fell from grace under MW, it was stable we was on the edge and never looked threatened.

Beale was a gamble regardless how it's judged. He got some really good performances out of very talented players. But it fell apart partially because Beale left but also because the players in the squad have very poor character when things don't go well. Evident in many season of Warbutons and Ollie's reign.

This is the reason I feel Les has to go. One because as a DoF he's not kept our squad based on the 'blueprint' he and the hierarchy have set... but also those he has recruited or had a hand in - is missing that grit and determination to fight when sh1t hits the fan.

Lee Hoos however has got off scott free here. His utter comtempt for QPR fans is now plain to see in the Podcast interview he did. That's a horrendous sign during really testing times. As Critchley has gone, I feel Les should offer resignation at minimum. But then so should Hoos.

Clive could legit get ChatGPT to write his previews or reviews. Especially since the players are phoning it in.

Our current loans..
at 13:23 31 Jan 2023

agreed, but I feel those players was surplus since start of the season. I don't feel like Tim and Tyler are not good enough or anything like that - just they aren't what we need.. plus our mentality and character is being brought into question and it's crystal clear these won't improve that.

Our current loans..
at 10:00 31 Jan 2023

Just a thought maybe covered else where but it's clear now for me at least even though the gap between our position and playoff's isn't massive, we lack the character to get in and stay in the playoffs. I would guess that if we was to rocket up the league for whatever reason - we would bottle it at the the end because of our squads current character traits.

Nevertheless, I am actually at a point to write off this season and start for next.. A lot of threads for us to blood some players in, Kolli, Armstrong for example.

It begs the question about the loans we have - what type of deals are there?

Tim - I can only guess based on this coming weekends selection, that if he is selected to start - it's because we are required to pay Villa money for every game he doesn't play or some sort of deal?

Roberts - probably similar to Tim, but maybe not. Whenever he's been available for us he's started.

Richards - it seems obvious we can't cancel this loan as we have a deal to buy at the end of the season. And buying now hurts us with FFP?

Laird - arguably the best of the loans but can be seen to be delicate when it comes to knocks or injuries.

Lowe - just got here.

I would honestly have expected Les, Lee and Neil to send Tim back to villa if we could. Loaning somebody else's academy star is only good for us if they perform. Otherwise we're giving them work experience ahead of our own players regardless whether dozzell or amos are better.

Roberts isn't needed and seemingly is a bad influence on the team. His tantrums during games is evident and he can go back asap. Again - why hasn't Les or Lee done this earlier in the window?

I'd keep Laird purely because he is leagues better than Kakay and I would say he and Paal are our POTY so far.. sadly for Ozzy he's never going to be a championship starting full back.

Our squad needs a refresh that is clear - I don't think we can rely on blooding the prospects from the B team or even Kolli. We need to send back two of our loans and get others in, but i feel we've either got our heads in the sand or we're contractually unable to send them back.

What are your biggest disappointments at work?
at 19:27 19 Jan 2023

It was so random. An example:

I'm a software engineer and in my field like many others, you have permies and contractors. So in this instance I worked with 2 colleagues I'd known at previous roles for 10 years or so. They was both contractors (6-9months) and I was perm. In the office there was 3 desks to a row. So naturally to begin with I would sit with those two I knew. It then comes to a lunch call, and I am asked do I want to go to the pub for lunch by the manager. I say yes, go back to my desk get my things and tell my mates we're off to the pub, come along. They follow and we go to the pub. 4 of the 6 people there was perm like me. The other two was contractors and weirdly, the perms wasn't talking to the contractors at all, even asking them how their day was going. I thought this is odd. Anyways, days/weeks go on and it happens again, this time though the manager asks me directly whilst I was sat with those mates of mine. He then says see you there and tells the two others to stay and finish x and y. Baffled but he's the gaffer. Eventually it just transpired that never ever did perm and contractors mix because of this managers viewpoint that they are paid a day rate and need to work for it even in their lunch. So odd and clicky. I didn't last long in that circle and openly went against the managers ways - often asking all the contractors to go for a beer on a friday at lunch, whilst then asking all other permies.

Strange time in my life.

Your story sounds rough, if anybody cries at work it's a red flag. I won't work for companies or people now who demand more than the contract from me. Like those who guilt to work late, or cover on weekends for free. Get stuffed. Mental health all the way!

What are your biggest disappointments at work?
at 14:35 19 Jan 2023

Two major ones for me.

1. In a nice flexible and productive role but underpaid compared to the market - left for the dollars and regretted it within a week. Sadly, my interview process for the company I joined was one of the best I've had for me and for them. New shiny office, knowledgable people and just a complete shitshow when I started. A silent working area with about 20+ people every day. Lots of clock watchers asking you why you're leaving at 5.57 (despite you gettin in an hour early) and the worst of it all was the manager openly refusing and insisting some colleagues don't socialise with others. I left after 9 months - no idea how I stayed so long. Lots of bullying there too none that I recieved but I did see.

2. Upon leaving flexible job for money as stated above - I rejoined my old place. Promised a new shiny project where I would seriously change my skillset and I have/did. But I'm now 4 years down that line and every day I am unproductive and lost in my role. I have no cohesion with colleagues purely down to the fact we all work from home every day and management aren't strong enough to ensure people are working when at home. I love working from home but there are people who will go missing for hours in a day and not respond to emails or messages when it's 11am, 3pm whatever. Unproductive, but paid very well and I have the most flexibility I've ever had or likely to get.. but without that productivity I just hate going to work to do nothing, or force myself to feel productive each day. I'm in an odd position to leave too as my field has changed in last 5 years - I've gotten somewhat stale compared to market and I might not command the same salary. So I'm essentially Shaun Wright-Philips of my workplace.
