No danger in that. The lad in the Sombrero still sits there at the front. At least he did the last time I went. Takes a lot to take attention away from him! |

Great stuff. A block. Don't think I've ever done A block before. I suspect I never will again |

Yeah, that's a great way of putting it. It gets very tiring. Nourry looks like he's watched a lot of TED talks |

I work in tech, and it's (unfortunately) full of people who talk like this despite it often also being their first ever job. Basically, I suspect this is what he thinks is the best way to avoid answering by saying that we've offered 6 month contracts or contracts with relegation release clauses. |

He's even more of a lunatic than he looks if he has done that. Haven't seen any official acknowledgement, but if I was him I'd only be signing until the end of the season. |

I mean, he was pretty poor, and he's not really a kid anymore, he's 22. But, as a few have pointed out, it's not exactly like everyone else was good and he was bad. He gets no protection from Willock, but he's also not going to get signed up by any Football League clubs when he inevitably moves on. He makes me miss Kakay to be honest. |

Couple of pretty crap teams here. So many thick yellow cards. Someone going to get sent off. Jimmy Dunne is a trier. But, he's very limited. Chair doesn't want to pass it to Smyth. |

Oh yeah, also, just a note, I'd happily chip in more on the patreon for more like this. What I pay now is for the written content and to give something to AKUTRS. This is a nice extra. And I'd be happy for them to be a different tier... This stuff takes a lot of effort. |

Personally, while I agree that an immediate reaction vox pop is not what is needed, I would be very keen for more of these. I totally agree that this stands at odds with Open All Rs, and the other podcasts of that ilk, as different offerings for different purposes, but my presumption is that there's a lot of people who have been wanting a podcast like this for QPR. I thought the discussion was very good, knowledgeable and also not patronising to the audience. There was much more low level discussion, and this is what I like and want. |
| Forum Reply | Smyth somersaults all the way back to QPR — Signing at 12:35 29 Jun 2023
So, it turns out I have absolutely no recollection of Smyth at all. I've seemingly conflated him in my head with that striker we once had who scored on his debut under Redknapp from like 2 yards and seemingly never played again? I have no idea what that players name is. So this will definitely be like a new signing for me! |

How often have we had a plan that we will and truly stuck to though? We've tried to recruit for a certain style of football and now we're going for what feels like the opposite. Very Burnley under Dyche. Just lads who run like fùck. Fine if we stick to that. Not great if yr man Ainsworth is gone by December and we have a new Director of Football who wants some technical young boys in. Poor Josh Scowen. Again. |

I guess. But, then, if everything is on fire, then whatever strategy they did have with contracts is also on fire. If we do keep signing 15/16 players every three or four years and then do okay for two and then burn everything to the ground in the next two - then I guess everyone will be coming to the end of their contract term and the whole cycle starts again. At least it'll be a profit on the books because of amortisation or whatever. I guess because money was so tight we kind of didn't want to extend when the going was good? |

Presumably would want a fair whack though? Also, he's an absolute psychopath who loves a studs up challenge. With regards to this, presumably, Dykes is going to be out for a while now. Hopefully Martin isn't on a lot, or very much on a pay as you play type contract - and might be of some use for a bit? I don't know. Not a long term deal is it? |

Anyone get their tickets or even an email confirmation for this? I've received nothing. Will contact them |
| Forum Reply | Mick Beale at 00:29 20 Oct 2022
Yeah, but why would he and his agent have agreed to anything higher without being materially compensated with higher wages? I'm not sure you and others asking for more money or no release clause have quite understood the balance of power here. See also Chris Willock and contract negotiations |

I did say roughly. |

1 million is probably about reasonable for a manager in the Championship. Probably at the top end of that as well. I'm guessing he's on about 500k? (It's what I've been reliably told). Don't see how we can stick much more in his contract. "You have a 10 million release clause" "Okay, I want at least 2 million a year then" "We can't afford that". Dunno how else negotiations go there. Also, you're pretending that in my first point the incumbent isn't an incredibly confident individual who isn't looking at a squad worth multiple times what ours is. I'm hoping we have an idea of who we could get if Beale goes. And think we've got a great squad for whoever comes next. I don't think where we are right now is entirely down to Beale, I just think it's perfectly understandable why he's interested in going. Warburton and QPR were roughly in the same place 12 months ago. Now look |

Some mad stuff in here. It's his job and his career. If someone came to you and offered to treble your wages, I reckon you'd allbe interested. Of course he thinks he can do a good job at Wolves. On paper they have an incredible squad. They're an established Premier League team. Also, what sort of release clause do you possibly think we should have for a manager? Do any of you even know what a usual release clause should be? Obviously, I'll be pretty sad if we lose him as I think he's doing pretty well. But, come on lads. Have a word with yourselves. |
