Thread | Left back at the training ground

Why Why Why!!
For the last three seasons we have been vulnerable at left back with away teams cutting in and no one tackles them allowing them to get to the 6 yard line and chip!?
I stand behind this game in game out and we ALL can see it yet no one af the club appears aware that we are vulnerable here and always down our left then centre then right!!
We also have the worst record over three seasons for goals conceded within 10 mins from break🤬 |

Was anyone else frustrated by Jimmy’s interview when he kept saying we are all embarrassed but it’s hard to put the finger on it or why!!
No it is not hard at all Jimmy!
Certain players :-
give away the ball too easily
Don’t tackle
Don’t track back
Don’t see alternative options
Don’t dare try something different at free kicks
Don’t defend well
Don’t attack well
Don’t hit the target
And it’s been that way for too long!!
If we can see this why is it so hard to put a finger on it?!

The answer to this question is not Nourry or Stephan but the prosecution cites Nardi, Kholi and Bennie and whatever they drink or take at half time,
Consider the evidence:
We are 2-0 up so doing something right.
It makes sense to rest Burrell and Sutton was a loose cannon lucky to still be on the pitch.
So half time changes make sense!
Then Plymouth start throwing in crosses, knowing Nardi NEVER comes for them to claim.
How many times did we see Preston's keepe reach up and pick out our crosses at the weekend. Not sure if Nardi is from Transylvania and related to Dracula but he doesn't like and cannot handle crosses, So Nardi lets one in, then the next and finally the third- all preventable.
At 2-1 we needed out people to hold the ball and yet Bennie and Kholi, who put us in the lead, now start forgetting basics. Offside Kholi, Offside Kholi, Miss by Kholi on 2-2, stupid flick by Bennie to no one ....why?
We keep conceding either side of half time - why? Last year we were the worst in the league for conceding within 15 minutes from the break!
We were never going to win the cup and seeing who can do what was an experiment (but an insult to the fans who travelled)
But for me, had Nardi been able to deal with the corner and the cross for the second goal, there would be no talk of Nourry or the manager!
We'd be praising the youngsters! |

I never felt he was any good with crosses and in the end, his legs gave way!

Middle lane drivers not pulling over when inside lane is clear (you know who you are)
Middle lane drivers doing 10 mph or more under the speed limit
Drivers tailgating in a 20 mph zone.
20 mph zones
People not having their card or money ready when required on bus, at suppermarket, etc.
People who have chosen midddle seats at cinema or theatre and arrive late so evberyone has to get up and then doing the same thing after the interval.
People who stand up in the aisle of a plane after it has landed trying to get off the plane early (if there is no evacuation, take your turn)
People not taught or aware of the need to say please or thankyou.
People who think, somehow, the world owes them a living.
People who claim benefit who don't actually need or deserve it
Players who dive
Referees who instruct their assistants prior to the game to only flag for offsides and that they, the ref, will determine all throw ins, fouls etc., which leads to something happening in front of the assistant but he/she/ they doesn't flag until the ref whispers in their ear.
People who think that singing you're just another shit ref / lino will endear him to the team on any contentious further issues

Not clearing the first defender in a cross
Not trying something different at attacking free kicks
Passing the ball to the other team
People not doing anything about the foregoing

No need to be peed off.
You are infected and there is no real cure.
It is the same infection that causes you to live with someone for life or why you have a furry thing that you have to take for walks or a fluffy thing that takes itself for walks.
The symptoms are mild and they will come and go
It will be a roller coaster ride and some days you will feel great and others, less so.
As hard as you try, your ears will always pick up the football score referring to QPR and if they have won, as much as you tell yourself "it doesn't matter!" you will feel good and if they have lost, the opposite.
So, it is not your fault and you cannot change and look at another team to save your emotions
Some are infected others are immune.

I spoke to Marti, when he did his lap of honour 'goodbye to the fans' prior to 'gardening leave'.
I said "please stay!" - his response was immediate, open, honest and heartfelt.
Shaking my hand he said " I REALLY want to!" and his eye to eye contact and mouth grimace (displayed when we cannot have what we want) told a tale of a man who DOES want to be here!
He could have ignored, shrugged, said 'we'll see' etc. but he didn't!
Talking to others after the game they got the same vibe ! |

The name fits rather well. We carry him hobbling back and forth not pressing not tackling falling over and then he scores and we all acclaim him as our saviour. He isn't and that is apparent. No one is 'scared' by him.
Yes he sometimes scores goals but often doesn't! |

Yes, of course Eze. Being an R's supporter I have watched his career development and progression and having him inside and Madueka outside we definitely pose a threat. Grealish did the same!
But we are in awe of Carry Lame and he is not comparably talented with ball at foot as the three mentioned. Lame supporters will say he scores goals and is masterful in defence, and turn a blind eye to all that jogging backwards and forwards not pressing, not involved play.
The argument that Carry Lame is good for England is the same as saying that arm bands are good for swimmers, yes you need them to keep you afloat but for a lot of the time they do not actually contribute to your development and by continued reliance you prevent your own development.
So reverse it, have Carry Lame there as a last resort and if we have a penalty, bring hm on, but have other players start that teams are not expecting and who, surprisingly, can run at the defence - as I say, down the centre and on the wings.
As long as we have Carry Lame as arm bands and don't develop new starting players we shall continue to sink and like arm bands that have gone beyond their useful life (and I don't mean the goal he sneaks in at the death) we too shall feel deflated!
But to many, Carry Lame is a god to be worshipped and applauded but actually he isn't and wee have more talented players that would pose a threat! |
