There look to be a tiny amount of Cat 4 tickets in each stadium, a few thousand tops of Cat 3, and the vast majority are Cat 1 or 2. The idea that you have to bleed every penny out of punters does my nut in. Given they'll make billions in profit, would it hurt them to even pretend to be making a majority of tickets within reach of normal/sane people? The drinks/food prices will probably be bananas too. |

I work with an Egyptian lad who lived all over the Gulf growing up and Oman is the only Gulf state he would recommend visiting. He says it's beautiful and it's the only one of the Gulf states in his opinion, where the people haven't largely become materialistic ars eholes. |

Istanbul is an amazing city. Up there with any city I've visited. So much to do and see, amazing food, great locals, some really good bars, mental football... a brilliant place. My bucket list would be finishing the 92 (almost there, but clubs need to stop moving grounds and getting relegated into the National league), a game at Dortmund, a game at Arbroath, and a game at Dinamo Tbilisi (wanted to go there since hearing their name on the radio as a kid). England Test match at Newlands. On the flip side, I have less than zero interest in going to Vegas or Dubai. |

Germany is obviously a much larger country with potentially greater distances to travel for a lot of sides. Regionalising league is fine until you get a situation where you have someone like Gloucester or Bishops Stortford having to play in a Northern division. I think I'd support 5 divisions with 20 clubs. It's certainly time to address the unfair situation with promotion from the National league. |

I hate the people who run the game, I dislike a lot of the people/states who own clubs, ticket prices are often an absolute disgrace, I hate TV companies taking the pi ss with kick-off times and dates, I hate VAR, I hate the twa ts at the IFAB who seem to go out of their way to make football as difficult to officiate/understand as possible, I really dislike some of the ar seholes that I come across at games/on the way to games, and I really fu cking hate John Terry. Other than Fulham, I have no interest in the PL or European football, and I barely watch England qualifiers as there’s zero jeopardy these days. But I still absolutely love football. My son and I do 40+ games a season, mainly watching Bristol City (his club), but also the odd Fulham game, Scottish games, random games to get a 92 tick, non-league football, and a game or two abroad. I’m going to watch my dad’s non-league team with him on Saturday. The football is often fairly average/poor, but I just love the day out, whether it’s meeting up with friends for home games, or having a day visiting another town/city. I think more than anything, seeing how much my son loves playing and watching football, and the friends he’s made doing both, has stopped me from falling out of love with the game. |

I've done Norwich via Cambridge before. I went from Finsbury Park, but it doesn't look like that's a goer this weekend. You can get a train up to Cambridge from Tottenham Hale (Victoria line) though. Take about 2.5 hours, but less faff than replacement buses. Coming back, you could go Norwich to Cambridge, and then get the 17:37 train from there down to Tottenham Hale. That would be around 3 hours on the way back. |

Being naive, I didn't think it possible that the Swiss could produce an even bigger cun t than Blatter to run FIFA or that I could hate FIFA any more than I did at the time of Chuck Blazer et al. Infantino really is the biggest cun t in football. And I include John Terry in that. |

The main thing that gets me down about this country are the crumbling public services. Fix those and I think you would reduce a lot of the anti-social issues that upset people. To a large degree, you can only remedy that situation and have a country where services function, if people are prepared to pay enough tax to support those services. I have never earnt a fortune, but I was in the upper bracket before changing career, and I never resented a penny in taxes. There will always be areas where people think their taxes are misspent/should be directed, but that's inevitable. I think that pretty much everywhere in the developed world is having some sort of crisis with affordability, most of it seemingly stemming from the cost of housing. Personally, no amount of tax incentives could stop me living in this country and being close to the people I love, but maybe I'm odd. |

I reckon easily 90%+ of people at Ally Pally were down from the NW. Coaches from seemingly every town in Lancs/Cheshire parked-up. Not a great gig but like you say, the atmosphere and anticipation were amazing in the build-up. |

Stadium brief: Birmingham City Football Club is looking to construct a 62,000 capacity stadium at the heart of Birmingham's new leisure/entertainment district. The new stadium should feature no less than sixteen giant chimney stacks, which will house searchlights and firework launch pads. The stadium will host light shows as well as football matches. |

Absolutely gutted to see this news. The Stone Roses was the first album I bought where I'd found a band myself and not just got into someone through my brothers, cousins, or mates. Loved it from the minute it went on. Saw them at Ally Pally and just loved that whole time in my life. Earning fuc k-all as a school leaver, but going home and away every week, and hanging out in record shops having my horizons broadened. Loved that scene. He did great stuff with Primal Scream too. Heartbreaking that his young kids have now lost their mum and dad. |

They just opened a massive new M&S in the centre of Bristol. I almost cried for my younger self when I heard myself telling colleagues that I was going to pop down and check out the new M&S at lunchtime. I've become middle-aged and middle class. Boom. |

My Dad's from Edinburgh, and I love the country, so always want Scotland to do well. But there's no denying that a fair chunk of that squad are Championship level, which makes it a great collective achievement to have qualified for the tournament. My mate who follows Scotland everywhere and went to all the qualifiers bar Belarus away (behind closed doors) reckons that's one of the worst qualification campaigns he's seen in terms of performances, but as plenty have remarked, Scotland are long overdue a bit of good fortune. Patronising cu nt alert, but I guess with the way qualification groups are set up now, there's not much for the strongest teams to get excited about in beating much smaller nations, but that's obviously not the case for Wales, Scotland, N.I. RoI either qualifying or getting to the play-offs, which in itself is something to celebrate. England could have made things more interesting by not winning all their games, but I don't think you'll find too many England fans complaining. |

I know he's Chelsea and seems pretty dour, but I've been really impressed by the way he gets on with things for Scotland. Respect him a lot for speaking out on West coast sectarianism, which isn't something you do if you're just after an easy life. |

Really chuffed for Scotland. Not sure how such a limited side score three such fantastic goals, but who gives a fuc k. From 1-1 onwards that was a mad game. Never a sending-off, but after decades of sh ite luck, it's great to see Scotland finally get a bit of good luck with some of the games in this qualifying group. Pleased for Steve Clarke who has managed to get a fairly Championship squad to 3 tournaments now, which is some going. Grant Hanley at a WC would be mental. |

I'm away to my bed now, but I'm not sure I'm missing the point. A lot of remainers and people left of centre think Nick Robinson and Laura Kuensberg are rabidly Tory and pro-Brexit. Tories and people on the right seem to argue that everyone who works at the BBC is a Marxist-Feminist-Lesbianist-Refugeeist. I think they get stuff wrong. On balance, its heart is in the right place (verified news) and I'm taking it over shouty mouthy cun ts bankrolled by oligarchs. |
 | Forum Reply | The BBC at 22:44 9 Nov 2025
I have a lot of friends who think the BBC serves the Tories/Big business. Take the BBC out of the equation and you have people like Murdoch delivering the news. Billionaires generally seem to have a particular view of the world. And I wouldn't call it balanced in favour of 99% of the population. So I'm a massive fan of keeping and supporting the BBC. |
 | Forum Reply | The BBC at 22:08 9 Nov 2025
Yeah, when the alternative is an oligarch owned media organisation, I'm taking the BBC over them every day. Currently watching the BBC give themselves a kicking for this on the ten o'click news. Can't see Fox doing something similar. |
