Snow chains / socks
at 19:53 3 Dec 2023

So last night we got into a few problems when the weather was way more severe than forecast. Thankfully we were rescued after sliding sideways downhill by a late night Land Rover driver out playing who towed us home. When I got home I checked out snow chains. It's only the second time in over 30 years of living in Wales I've got caught out so a bit reluctant to lash out loads of cash. Prices are less than a tenner to more than 100!. But snow socks kept popping up as an alternative. Apparently wear out quick, but easy to fit and get you out of a problem. Loads cheaper. So, those of you into cars and stuff, any advice? Just to give you an idea of the level to pitch this at, I've got two cars. One is white with four wheels and the other is black with four wheels...

Not sure if you still post on here, but out of interest have you donated some QPR items to the charity auction in Caersws tonight? A couple of unlikely things have turned up that you wouldn't expect in a mid-Wales village.

Sheff Wed, coast to coast and MND
at 21:49 29 Aug 2019

On Saturday myself and my two sons will be at Hillsborough. This is on the way home from walking across England from the Lake District coast to the Yorkshire coast. We have done this, with my wife in memory of her father, the boys grandfather. He was a great walker, and upon retiring 20 years ago also did this walk. Three years ago he was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease. We already knew something was wrong. Cruelly for such an active man it took his legs first. He died earlier this year. We have carried a collecting tin and have a just giving page. I haven't put this up because I feel users of this site already give a lot to other requests. This is just to tell you that police / Sheff Weds permitting my wife will be somewhere near the away end with her tin. If you see her, it's genuine. Go and say hello and any loose change will be much appreciated. Thanks.Llan

White City - Marylebone

Does anyone do this route after matches? I've found out I can get to London much cheaper by arriving at Marylebone instead of Euston. The problem is the last train back is 18.05. Is this too tight or is it okay?

Swansea - Boxing Day

Just booked a family room at Swansea North Premier Inn for £19.00. The offer ends tomorrow. You can also get city centre for £29.00. No cancellation refunds so I know it's a risk with the weather, but worth the risk I reckon.

I'm going to Wigan next week. If you can get yourself to Llanidloes and back I'm happy to sort out tickets Sunday / Monday. There's two of us and I'll drive from here. Let me know ASAP.

Celebrating? How?
at 19:04 20 Aug 2011

It feels like we've won the league!

On yet another beer - too many for this time of night; Master of Puppets on music; and thinking about the totally childish email I'm going to send to my Arsenal supporting friend on how to beat scousers. What a great night!

Derby ticket prices
at 13:44 26 Aug 2010

£11.50 for kids. Quite a lot as it is, but there is no discount for very young kids. We were planning to travel to Derby on Saturday. I can stomach the 28 quid for me, can just about handle £11.50 for older son, who will be interested and pay attention, but £11.50 for a five year old - no way. Anyone who has taken a child this age to a match knows they spend most of the time wanting the toilet / more chocolate. Don't teams like Derby realise that the only way children will support 'smaller' clubs is if they get hooked on them early, and the only way you do that is by taking them to matches. Otherwise they just get a media diet of Man Utd, Chelsea and Man City and think they're the only teams that count. They grow up supporting them and a generation of potential support is lost. This is one area where QPR have it spot on - kids under 8 get in free.

I don't suppose anyone from Derby is going to read this, but if they do - nice one, you're helping the big get bigger and destroying the smaller clubs. Go screw yourselves.
