Was that the season we fell away badly in the second half of the season? I regret to say as I get older, one awful season tends to blend in with the many others experienced since 1997 that they overlap. Certainly the last 10 years have largely been forgettable with occasional highlights like beating Leeds 4-0. |

Don't forget that Sheffield Wednesday got one of their two home points against us. Everyone else has won there basically scoring at least three in the process. We don't score enough goals to take the pressure off the defence. If Norwich still had the manager that lost seven home games on the bounce we might have got something but getting a new man in is a fresh start and bad timing for us. The other issue is I read in the last 42 meetings with Norwich, we have only won 9 compared to 22 wins for them so it seems ingrained in us they are a big club so we generally go to Carrow Road with a defeatist attitude. Last season's 3-0 home win was our first victory over Norwich for years and Kolli scored twice. Alas this manager thought Frey was a better option today whereas the Norwich defence might have been more concerned facing Kolli. Now we face West Brom, another team who have done us 7-1 and a team we haven't beaten for a few years. |

I agree about your comments that Warburton would have us playing better football but one advantage he had was Eze who was a cut above. We don't have anyone as good as Eze now. It was the same way with Warnock who had Taarabt but you have to wonder if Warburton and Warnock would have have had a more difficult job without the likes of Eze and Taarabt who were the best in the Championship. Our recent managers have not had such gifted individuals to beat ordinary opponents like we faced today. |

Oxford must be better than us looking at their results this week against the Anglia sides. The Canaries and Tractor Boys made absolute fools of us in our meetings. We have a knack of looking like a league 1 side like today. As soon as we get around a play off spot we go to pieces like a fish out of water before scurrying back to 16th and calmer waters. Mental weaklings continue to sign for this club season after season. [Post edited 29 Nov 18:44]

Yes not good for us today that Norwich had a new manager who should have won both home games. Had we played Norwich with the previous manager who lost all 7 home games we might not have lost. Just our luck the nabager changed shortly before our visit. I can just see Leicester getting a new man in just before we play them. Sorry to bang on again about Coventry but once again they won every game in a 3 game week. You have to admire their consistency. |

Coventry have won every game in three games in 8 days schedules and have notched up another two this week. Two down on Saturday they still win and tonight away from home they score two late goals to win. No signs of being tired with travelling and short game turnarounds so they clearly have the right mental attitude to handle it. The manager has to take credit for that. |

The Norwich manager isn't that good. He masterminded Rangers losing at home to Queens Park in one of the biggest Scottish cup upsets ever. He didn't last much longer at Ibrox after that so we have nothing to fear so long as we don't psyche ourselves out that we rarely win at Carrow Road. Ultimately the problem with us is we couldn't win at Sheffield Wednesday who haven't won at home and now we play at Blackburn with just one home win and Norwich also with zero home wins. This week will be a test of our mentality. |

It's the way things are nowadays with too many breaks for the international teams after years of complaints not enough was being done to help the national team qualifying for tournaments. We have always had three games in quick succession after Christmas Day which has never been a great success for us. No away wins on Boxing Day since 1971 says a lot about the club that has to play three times in 7/8 days. We have Portsmouth away on Boxing Day and West Brom away three days later but we start the New Year with two home games on 1 and 4 January. We just have to get on with it and have the right attitude for these three game stints which has been lacking from us. The EFL and Sky will never worry about fairness or the effect it has on fans travelling. |

Bannon was relatively quiet compared to how he fares against us. Trust us to give Wednesday one of their two home points so far when they are such a poor side. I suppose we will make Norwich look good on Saturday. |

Yes we are passive but if we can only afford bargain basement players than you can expect a lot of dross and players with bad attitudes and suspect temperament so you end up with similar losing patterns season after season. Unless we have £20 million to spend on each player, it is difficult to see where a drastic improvement to propel us to better times is going to come from to transform our fortunes. I am certain if we were in the bottom three, Sheffield Utd would have won at Loftus Road if the roles were reversed. No doubt we see them as a bigger club so are happy to take a point which we also did at Sheffield Wednesday when both clubs were there for the taking. I don't particularly consider a 0-0 draw to be stopping the rot as it started with a similar borefest against Oxford. It is just another game without a win . Our record at Carrow Road is not great so even if they hadn't sacked their manager, I still feel that we would settle for a point no matter how bad Norwich are with everyone winning there. We lack ambition and a killer instinct to put bad sides to the sword hence our charitable status. |

Maybe it is me but if we were in the bottom 3 and mid table Sheffield United visited, I bet they would win the game. That is a feature I hate about us and we saw it against a crap Southampton when we lost. We lose to Southampton when they are good and when they are bad. Now Norwich have sacked their manager I suspect they will get their first home win against us, it's what we do. Norwich should still be poor in a few weeks time but no doubt we will manage to play even worse. Whenever we play a poor side the worse we play. |

Don't worry lads that garbage was the best we have played this season judging by the manager's comments. Perhaps for once we had new manager bounce for the unbeaten spell but now normality is back and any bounce has burst. It doesn't seem so long ago that I looked at Ipswich and Southampton as smaller clubs but now it seems most Championship clubs are apparently bigger than us. Must be the finances that has changed this perception of us as a small club. |

The frustration is that this pattern has lasted for years and it seems it will continue for decades to come if we continue as we are. What is troubling is we have a manager who described last night as our best performance of the season. While people associated with the club continue to live in the land of make believe that all is ok in our world then expect nothing to change. |

I have been banging on for years that people get carried away with us and it is something I can never understand. We do this every season where hopes are raised in some when we have a good run like one loss in ten games. Too many get taken in that it will be different this time before we then embark on a run of one win in ten games. It seems to be an annual event but this club is going nowhere unless investment comes in to transform us like at Chelsea, City, Wrexham, Newcastle and a few others. These clubs would still be inconsistent without the money put into them to attract winners to be there. We just get leftovers who are not that good and it shows. We will still be circling the relegation plughole in 10 years time if we carry on as we are. The added problem we have this season is the three clubs who came up don't look like they will be in the relegation dogfight. |

Don't forget our magnificent goalless draw with the mighty Oxford which proceeded the three defeats on the trot. Once again it looks like we need away wins to save us just like the last three seasons. As per usual we have found another club who we contrive to lose too every time we face them. Lost count now of consecutive Saints wins over us and damn sick of it as well. |

Our cause not being helped by Derby winning four on the bounce, Blackburn three on the bounce and Birmingham winning consecutive games 4-0. I have reservations that Southampton, Sheffield Utd and Norwich will stay down at the bottom so still time for us to be sucked into the danger zone. We seem to have a knack of only losing once in ten games and then following it up with one win in ten games so it becomes a fight to stay out of the drop zone. |

Perhaps it is just me but when I look at Kieran McKenna, Alex Neill, Frank Lampard, Nathan Jones, sadly I think they are better manager's than what we now have. I would like Jules to prove me wrong but so far I am a bit underwhelmed by his tinkering with the team. |

Well said that man. The continuous doom loop circle we excel on every season just carries on regardless. Don't forget our nasty habit of conceding goals either side of half time which often pivots the direction of the game especially at our place. The Millwall game got away from us right on half time and Ipswich seized control just after the interval yesterday. Change the players, change the manager but the same old failings never stop. |
 | Forum Reply | Gaffer on today's defeat at 21:49 1 Nov 2025
Absolutely agree. We also lost the previous home game to Millwall so we are on a bit of a roll. You start to wonder if Swansea hadn't been down to ten after 35 minutes if we might have lost that too against 11 men. Today's game was a reminder how Ipswich bypassed us from league 1 to get in the Premiership and they easily brushed us aside today. As a club we have been static for so long while other clubs transform themselves at a much faster rate as Coventry and Sunderland are currently demonstrating. We accept mediocrity and make excuses for them when they can't handle three game weeks. Losing 4-1 at home to Ipswich used to be unthinkable and it should be unacceptable when they got stuffed by Charlton at their place very recently. |
