True, all fair points. Is it a new record for consecutive penalty saves though? Still seems incredible to have four consecutive penalties saved even if we ain't bothered about the cup. The bigger picture is once again we lose to Millwall in the record books and are still pants in derby matches. Hopefully we will carry more of a threat in the league. |

Quite. Why would you even need to spy on Oxford? I would expect them to spy on all their promotion rivals. I must say though that Southampton were swiftly punished while nothing happens to megabucks Man City in the Premiership. |

With around four decades of the title going to a Glasgow club you can't expect the SPL wanting that to change. It is traditional that nobody outside of Glasgow wins the league so VAR is now a useful tool to ensure the status quo.
The reality this season is for much of it, the Old Firm have been a shambles with failed managers. Even St Mirren beat Celtic 3-1 in a cup final. What is soul destroying is despite the Glasgow teams being incompetent for much of the season allowing Hearts an 8 point lead, Celtic still won it. No doubt if O'Neil wasn't there they would not have been champions. |

It was the mental torture inflicted on us having to wait 10 days to find out if we would be champions and then agonising if Wolves would hang on and reaching 75 minutes and it then all collapsed on us. It has been painful ever since following this club knowing we won't be in that position ever again. |

I have to agree with Northern to exclude Hull. I excluded them from the 33 goals we conceded to the top 5. If you want to count Hull then that is fine as we did win but still conceded 3 in the process so 36 shipped to the top 6, nearly half the goals we conceded all season to just six clubs.
Anyway the reason I excluded Hull and focused on the top five, was simply because only the top five were in the hunt for automatic promotion. Hull could easily have been replaced by Derby or Wrexham on the final day for the last play off spot. There was a gap between fifth and the rest so clearly the top five were a cut above. I can't speak for Northern but understand why he would look at the gap between us and Middlesbrough of 22 points. Neither club has parachute money but a huge difference on the pitch.
It is interesting some think we have improved but the final league table doesn't lie that it was negligible on previous seasons. If you want to see an example of an on field improvement then Hull is it. Nearly relegated last season, yet this season they spent most of the season in a play off place and just about stayed there until the last few games before snatching 6th back. |

For half of the season Norwich and Sheffield United were in the bottom three but both managed to finish above us as we fell away in the second half of the season. |

In reality we only conceded 50 goals in 41 games which doesn't look so bad. The overall total has been exaggerated from conceding 20 goals in just four games to Coventry, Southampton, Ipswich and Middlesbrough. The number of home defeats again is troubling as well as the defending if we ever want to challenge the top half of the league. |

Last season we were crap at Derby. We lost. We were crap again at Derby this season. We lost. Derby come to us and are crap. They win scoring three times. We are so soft we make candy floss look hard. We are an absolute joke of a football club.
Despite this people try to convince me we have improved. Aah yes points wise we are two points better off owing to two marvellous 0-0 draws with relegated Oxford. We have one of the worst defences in the Championship but honestly we are improving. Apparently I only imagine that we are static like a torpedoed ship unable to move season after season. Nothing will change until new life and a new mentality envelopes this depressing football club that just constantly make me feel ill. |

You are right it is shameful but Fulham were transformed by Al Fayed's money while we were losing money and run on a pittance. Up to the 90's money was not such an influencer but the last 30 years has seen it transform some clubs beyond all recognition while clubs like us were passing buckets around. Same with Chelsea and the wealth of Abramovich turning round their fortunes. The money all the London clubs are making now in the Premiership is casting us further adrift of them. If Spurs or West Ham come down, the reality is we are highly unlikely to beat them with the enormous financial gap between us unless they have a serious attitude problem like Leicester this season. |

When we last won at the Den in 2022, Danny Baker took to the airwaves to describe Millwall's derby performance wholly unacceptable. Many of their fans let their owners and players know that such a gutless display was sacrilege. Since then we have lost on each visit to the Den and, in fact, we have only won once in the seven subsequent meetings.
In contrast we seem to meekly accept yet another insipid lacklustre display in a derby match. Nobody burning effigys of the players outside the training ground, no clear the air talks with the club, nobody taking to the airwaves to publicly lambast our attitude to such games. The meek little mice on the pitch continue to roll over and be bullied. One poor derby display and Millwall fans vent their fury while we continue to produce derby slops every season as if it's the right approach.
It is noted that some feel we have improved this season but it is only by 2 points at present so we are not even one win better yet for the two seasons on 56 points. The improvement has been avoiding the bottom 3 and not being in the relegation scrap. Points wise we are about the same as two points is nothing in moving forwards. What definitively has not improved is performances and results in London derbies or being able to beat Boro, Norwich and Sheffield Utd. |

8 away Derby wins this century explains a lot. We shouldn't forget we were pony at Charlton too and it was only in stoppage time that we created anything in that game. Millwall now seem to keep beating us particularly in 1230 kick offs where we always look drugged. Perhaps Sky can be blamed for wanting the game live so we can't play at 3pm. In a way I don't want Spurs or West Ham to come down as it will be live and we will be pants. Now we look like a team who have mentally switched off and don't look like scoring. |

Fans of other clubs like Wrexham, Birmingham, Derby, Norwich, Sheffield Utd all believe they will be in the mix next season and no doubt Burnley, Wolves and Spurs or West Ham expect to go back up. Not sure where little old QPR fit in so I am keeping my feet firmly nailed in the highly unlikely camp.
I am realistic about us. The best teams in the league this season have been Coventry, Ipswich, Middlesbrough and Southampton and all wiped the floor with us and rinsed us out in at least one meeting against each. Those are the levels we fall well short of for auto promotion and at least one of them we will be facing again next season. We could squeeze into the last play off place but I wouldn't expect us to triumph in them if we were to face Middlesbrough for example. Time will tell but we are consistently inconsistent when we face sides like Norwich and Sheffield Utd. These are the teams we need to start beating to move up that table. |

The thing is Boro took their chances against us like we did against Portsmouth. Boro have now gone 6 games without a win after we surrendered to them. My frustration with us is we have lost 11-2 to Boro in the last three meetings as if we are scared of them. Then you watch Portsmouth and Charlton beat them 1-0.
I heard Boro have only won once in their last 10 meetings with Portsmouth so perhaps we need to deny Boro any space when we meet instead of being wide open to pick apart. It's the fact that Blackburn, Portsmouth and Charlton can stop Boro scoring whereas we concede so easily against them that rankles. |

Looks like we are crawling to 60 points. Their keeper could have stayed at home. Boring game, nobody seemed interested and they managed to find another ref for us even worse than the clown at the Watford game. Technically that is two games running nobody in a Rangers shirt has scored. Very odd that when we win at Ashton Gate, we struggle to beat them in the home return fixture. Seems like it happens every season.
Still Coventry only managed a 0-0 at home to Wednesday now that is a poor result. |

For us to have been dragged into the dogfight then all the teams below us would have had to be transformed like Norwich so that was never going to happen. Other clubs like Sheffield Utd, who had recovered, have now started losing again.
It wasn't just the Birmingham game but also the three prior to it where we looked more like a league 2 outfit with consecutive heavy defeats that started the real anxiety. Since we made Middlesbrough look like Bayern Munich, they have played five and won none of them. We looked in awe of them but they have not had it so easy since. I don't think Birmingham have won either since our tailor's dummy display against them. I think we can be retrospectively excused for losing to Southampton who are in great form, scoring plenty and were too good for Arsenal. |

If you let teams like Southampton, Middlesbrough and Ipswich have 60 to 70% possession we get wiped out. If we play teams like us then it is proven we can win with less possession as their finishing is not so good. If you let Boro have 27 shots you are likely to concede a few goals whereas Portsmouth wasted them. |

Our first win over Pompey in four meetings since they came up so let's enjoy it. They have had 47 goal attempts in two matches and scored once. It is not our problem they can't score or defend.
By and large whoever we play has more possession than us. We can beat teams like Portsmouth and other sides like Hull and Bristol City with less possession than them. However, with less possession against better teams like Middlesbrough and Southampton, who take the chances that teams like Pompey waste, we usually lose. |

Two months to make this VAR decision about what to do about Senegal walking off when the penalty was awarded. You would think they would have made this judgement the moment Senegal left the field. Does this mean those of us who won money on Senegal winning have to refund the bookies or they will send the heavy mob round to take our possessions? |
