Considering that we aspire to be a club that develops players, and that you can name 9 subs, I don't see why we can't allocate one of the subs to the U18s or even U16s to expose them to the match day experience, help their development, give solid proof of the pathway when recruiting young players etc. |

Ghana didn’t appeal much for the pen which surprised me but maybe tells its own story.
Most disappointing was the lack of imagination from England/Tuchel.
- Gordon & Madueke could’ve switched flanks occasionally.
- We pushed up high all the time making the pitch small & playing to Ghana’s game plan, where was the knocking it around at the back/Pickford to draw Ghana out like we did vs Croatia.
- Pushing Rice further forward to up the tempo worked 2nd half vs Croatia, it didn’t work vs Ghana. I’d rather Anderson go box to box and Rice sit than the other way round.
- Bellingham needed to link up with Kane more, seemed he was dropping to link up with midfield more often which unbalanced the midfield and general shape. |

Given our lack of full-backs and regularity of being overrun in CM I don’t understand why we haven’t tried 3-5-2, we’ve got enough CBs to make it work and using Lakeche/Esquerdinha/Adamson as wing-backs would leave their defensive fragility less exposed. |

I feel like we could say this about most of our players, not sure why some feel the need to dig out Walsh in particular. Maybe start a similar thread on our big money (for us) CB trying to be clever on the edge of our own box ffs.

Wasn’t it Warnock that signed Barton and Wright-Phillips, in which case I’m not sure we’d have been any better off…

Crawley was brought into the team to bat at 3 and did such a good job they moved him to open. Given the failures of Pope and bizarre inclusion of Bethell maybe we should move Crawley back to 3 and find another opener. |

Keeping him in goal after Coventry was a gamble but 100% the right call, but I’d now be looking to get him out on loan and bring someone in, we’ve set him up to fail by not getting him games on loan last year but it’s not too late to rectify that. |
