No luck and little that they tried came off. Most of them tried. Some of the younger ones, like Tim, just didn't seem to know what to do. The problem has to be a lack of confidence. Much as I like Jimmy's spirit, this is one of those rare moments when I wish we could have the other Dunne back, a Sergeant Major / Leader of Men type. Even Clive Dunne would be an upgrade in leadership terms. Little known fact. Dunne, Clive not Jimmy or Richard, might have played the old fogey, but was actually one of the youngest cast members in Dad's Army. |

I usually find myself agreeing with the MOTM assessments but this time, for me, it was Dominic Ball. Not only did he have an outstanding game but after we went two down he was the one who looked noticeably pumped up for a fightback. We need a bit more of that! |

No matter what the lineup, the defensive frailities remain. This points to a problem with the system. I don't think some of these players have the concentration necessary to play a system which punishes errors. |

The player ratings suggest that people are getting a bit carried away with this performance and in particular by the 2nd half. In the first half R's looked (understandably) underconfident and shakey. Lots of credit to the centre halves, Mas & Pav for attitude & in particular & Luke for just about everything. But performances from others looked nervous & pedestrian, Ez doesn't seem to know what he is supposed to do and I have now lost faith in Hemed. Is he even trying? |

Scowen seems to be getting most of the blame for the opener, though Lumley's short service looked very ill-advised. No matter, both have done well for us and made few mistakes, so should be forgiven. What I find more difficult to accept is the way in which the midfield let the game pass them by. I agree with others that Eze looks like he needs a break or at least a better of how he might 'interfere with play' more often.. Cousins looked semi - detached which is surprising because, even after a few marginally better performances, he still has a lot to prove.
I would rest Eze, drop Cousins, move Freeman into the centre behind Wells, try Manning alongside Scowen and start BOS on the flank. But then, what do I know? |

Lynch seems to be flavour of the month. Today, I thought that what appeared to be lapses of concentration on his part played a role in both of their goals and several times he was turned too easily by their forwards. |

At least Toszer must be able to see the spectators point of view. He was one. I have seen teddy bears with more fight.
And where was Ned when the captain needed the team needed rallying? As a player he is (usually) worth his salt, but as a Captain? This lot are too quiet. |
