Trying to break the goal? Almost as powerful as Andy Gray.

Willem Defoe and Robert Pattison with big bushy beards, going nuts. In black and white. One of a kind.

Leaving aside our own, who are the best players you’ve seen, who you raved about to your mates afterwards, whose careers either failed to take off or who vanished without a trace?
I’ll start with Dean Connolly. I was at a loose end one bank holiday in the early 90s, and made my annual trip to Griffin Park. Brentford crushed Wigan 4-0. The visitors were pretty hopeless except for Connolly, who was fantastic on the ball and incredibly quick to find a pass to a team mate, who quickly lost the ball. At one point, he took the ball with his back to goal about 30 yards out, lost three defenders with a turn and a trick and smashed the ball against the bar. And was then taken off.
At the time he was on loan from Barnsley in the next league up, which didn’t surprise me given his air of superiority and an obvious lack of conditioning. Google tells me he was originally a Celtic junior but was picked up by Arsenal in his teens. Barnsley let him go soon after and I never heard of him again. I can’t forget how talented he looked. I wonder what happened.

My 56-year-old brother has a new job, teaching Year 4 maths at our old Junior school - Malorees in Brondesbury Park. Has anyone else’s life turned full circle?

They’re performing miracles at the back. Andre Marriner will probably get them in the end though.

This might well be a Spackman given the date, but I only just noticed it. Good to see another former Chelsea player keeping up the club’s traditions by being a bellend but Liberia hoped for better. His predecessor’s son apparently helped himself to $100m of new notes as a director of the National Bank so George has a hard act to follow.

In the mood. 120 off 114. Still 9 overs to go. About 6 balls out of the ground so far.

I know some people on here know him. David Enrich (!) has told his story very well, lots of access to him and his wife, who sounds like a saint. QPR references every 10 pages or so. Not sure how lucky his socks were for him.

...try this from what we used to consider the civilised end of SW6.
There’s a poster called ck who claims to be Craig Kline, the former friend of the son of Shahid Khan, and onetime transfer analyst. Courageous whistleblower or drooling troll, he coming out with some extraordinary allegations and making lots of new friends along the way.
