Didn't think Pugh was a penality. Thought it was a bit embarrassing, to be honest. Sat in the front row of the Upper Loft and it was right in front of us. His touch was clumsy and put the ball four or five feet in front of him, and he was about to lose possession. So with minimal if any contact he threw himself to the ground, rather too long after it appeared there could have been contact. |

Who knows? From my angle in the West Paddock, it looked like Luongo went right through him at shin height. Let's be honest about this: you rarely see any player that furious about a challenge, unless they feel someone has done something psychotic. Does anyone really think he'd have wanted to kill Luongo if nothing had happened? He was so furious he probably would have got red if Smith hadn't hauled him away – he was still trying to get at Luongo, and I don't think his reaction was because he wanted Luongo sent off. From where I was, I thought Luongo was going to get red and Husband yellow (he didn't put his hands to Luongo's face). |

Luongo was booked for the challenge that enraged Husband. He was lucky it was only yellow: it was high and late. I'm not surprised Husband was furious, and it was disappointing the crowd booed him thereafter for the crime of nearly having his shin snapped in half. |

OK, at the risk of infuriating the people who view this as PC gone mad, I was disappointed with this sentence, Clive: "the Samoa team that lost 32-0 to Australia with a transvestite playing at centre half". Watch the documentary Next Goal Wins, about that team. It's wonderful. Very moving. She's not a transvestite; she's transgender. She laughs that yes, she runs like a girl. But she turns out and plays international football, with the support of her teammates, even when other people think she's a joke. She's a hell of a lot tougher than any of us, and doesn't deserve to be reduced to an (inaccurate) punchline. |

The other thing is: the Routledge/Henry incident happened right in front of me: I'm in the front row of the West Paddock. I was probably closer than either the linesman or the referee. Routledge did throw a punch - he pulled it, but he did begin the action of throwing it. From that moment, I was certain he'd be off. Didn't even see the "kick", but he deserved to go because he began to throw a punch. That said, Henry deserved to go: he should have had a yellow for the high feet seconds before, and he should have had a straight red fro the challenge on Routledge. |

Agree with Noelmc - there was nothing harsh about Hill's yellow: he took the ball after he'd already gone through the man, didn't he? Looked like a yellow at the time, looked even more like one on the TV. |

I'd be amazed if the new stadium ended up putting atmosphere and football first, if it is to be a multi use venue. Modern stadium gigs require so much in the way of production access points that I find it hard to believe it will be anything but a bowl – I can't imagine a four-sided stadium providing either the access or the sightlines required for gigs. I really, really hope I'm wrong. |

Agree completely that it was a performance the whole team can be proud of. No real problems with Diakité being MOM, though the two players who really impressed were Zamora, who I've thought has been decent before now, and Taiwo, who I've thought has been shocking before now. Zamora was absolutely selfless, covering the whole width of the pitch and holding off the centre backs almost every time. It slightly irritates me that he spends much of his time in hectoring conversation with the referee, and I'm pretty sure it cost him one 50/50 decision on Saturday, which came immediately after he'd jogged 50 yards snarling at Mike Dean. Taiwo was magnificent, I thought. He kept pace with Walcott more or less, he won plenty of possession from him and then had the composure to look up and play or pass his way forward, rather than automatically hoofing it back their defence or into the stand. |

Little though I wish to see Ecclestone and Briatore in charge of the club, I suspect Bhatia's employing a prodigious amount of spin to claim this is a resignation because he's sick about what the club is doing to the fans. Seems far more likely to me that he's resigned because the Mittal camp couldn't complete a takeover: there's no point a Mittal placeman running the club if they can't also control the club. Then the tickets debacle provided a convenient fan-friendly justification for the resignation. There isn't a billionaire alive whose principal concern is the well-being of those with less money. |
